The springers will be stale by then, and unlikely to take.
Grilse will be coming in. A few rivers have a small run of summer salmon, which are the size of springers.
Look at the large rivers, not spate streams. Also consider rivers with a lake along their course.

Agree with coolwings, its a bit late for a springer by then but you have a fantastic choice of rivers in that area of the country, all of which get a decent run of grilse i.e. kerry blackwater, sneem river, there are a couple of lakes in the mountains there too which the grilse make their way to after a flood.

salmon fishing in rivers like those can be hit and miss....rule nothing in and nothing out.......spend a good bit of time checking things out and enquire locally....

Check out the Caragh river if you get a chance. Both upper and lower stretches offer some really good salmon fishing.

    hi all,
just wondering heading to kemare for a couple of days in middle march and have only one day to spend time fishing, what river would be the best to go to for spring salmon?. Or what are the chances of spring salmon in march.
    cheers

If I was in your shoes and its a full day that you have to go fishing head over to Killarney and fish the Laune (45mins or thereabouts from Kenmare). Probably the best chance you have for a springer in the area.
