Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buying older big luxury cars

    I was amazed the other day while looking on Carzone and seeing this;

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/Audi/A8/4.2-QUAT/200820188856977/advert

    A car that would cost anywhere up to around €150k if it were bought now. So that's 5 - 6 years, and around €120k - €130k depreciation, and 77k miles.

    I'm not in the market for a car at the moment but is this not insane? The A8 is a stunning car, particularly with this engine and those wheels. Is 77k mileage for this type of car considered too much and would the running costs be too high for the average person? Obviously the car is very big and wouldn't suit most people but still, what a deal!

    That guy has come up on the scam thread. It appears that he's underpricing on Carzone to get enquiries and starting with a proper price when he has interest.

    That car has been there a long time (Audi) - it wouldn't surprise me if they are just trying to get shot of it.

    Nice bloody motor for that money - but then again its gonna cost you to run it.

    Barclay motors did mess me about a bit before - but that was more ignorant car dealer stuff than anything dodgy.

    Sure can be tempting when you can go from this,

    http://http://www.carzone.ie/search/Mercedes-Benz/CL-Class/500-V8/200840190256936/advert

    to this;

    That's if you own a topaz..then again if doing no driving worth talking what a way to travel, literally €200, 000 off from new...:):)

    THERES A REASON the cars at barclays are cheaper - Do not under ny circumstances buy a car for them, you will end up regretting it, i've dealt with them in the past and have regretted it ever since. Nice car though all the same the audi

    Don't those seats in the Audi look well how would you say .... "weathered" for a car that's supposed to have 77,000 miles?

    They look very worn to me, especially for a very expensive German saloon and Audi's reputation for making interiors that are built to last.

    They look in a somewhat better or similar condition in this high mileage one.

    They dont even look like original audi leather seats. I smell a retrofit.

    Perhaps!

    If there's one thing you can always say about Audis, it's that their interiors are always extremely well built.

    Leather seats do not get that worn after only 77,000 miles in an ordinary car, let alone an Audi.

    I would expect to seats in that condition on a car with double the A8's mileage.

    In fact the seats in the A8 linked above with 121,000 miles are in far better nick than the one with 77k, in the kind of condition that you would expect Audi seats to be in - just decently run in.

    They are the original factory fit items. It has the standard Valcona leather trim and the second higher mileage car has the upgraded sports leather option.
