RebelArmy - just printed that out and now have it on my D4 noticeboard!

    THANK YOU!!!

The knacker/scumbag variation exists for every dialect. I'm sure some french people sound sexy but to a local they would be considered scummers.

A good cork accent has a lilting quality which has a tint of sarcasm in the intonation.

OP, out of curiosity, are you from Dublin?

I'd imagine people from cork have more important things than their accent to be self conscious about

I love when Paul Byrne does interviews from Pana - invariably he'll find the Corkiest Cork people to talk on camera!

It is the best accent in the world to impress the ladies.

From my younger single days I would say that its actually a very popular accent all over Ireland with the ladies. If I had a penny for evertime some girl told me she loved my accent but it just wasnt dark enough....

    What's Pana?

It definitely seems to attract the ladies more alright. Was like shooting fish in a barrel in Newcastle with a Cork accent.

Some of my Dublin friends didn't do as well there interestingly :D

Cork Slang term for St Patricks Street. The city's main thoroughfare....feen :D

Had to go look up feen on urban dictionary as I didn't know what it meant
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=feen
    Feen

Used by people who listen to other people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Not very nice of you foxyboxer

The Cork accent is fantastic, yes i am Cork born and bred. But i feel it's a great ice breaker with people you meet from outside of Cork as everyone seems to like the accent and the people.

I'm in Galway about 6 years and it has worked wonders for me up here :) But saying that, i've kinda lost it a little bit and some people think it's a Kerry accent

When people nod and smile at you it's because they can't follow what you are saying ;)

I'm from donegal and i love the Cork accent, it sure beats the thick bogger accents of the vast majority of other southern counties accents (with exception to Kerry, its ok too)

Its not so much their accents that bother me, its the way they cant say more than two sentences without referring to "cork people", or the fact they are from Cork, Who cares that your from Cork, and anyway we can tell by your ridiculous accent that your from Cork

Newcastle in North of England i presume, if so it's not really surprising as they found the only people in Europe with a more fu*ked up accent than their own.

Your mickey is smaller than mine.
