Demo was meant to be out last night. Didnt get a chance to check .

Has anyone downloaded or tried it yet ? been looking forward to this, should be a good laugh

Yeah pretty sure that's it. Demo shall go on general release in a week or two I think.

I played the demo about 1-2 weeks ago, won a code on facebook but it was american one! :mad: had to go through 10 tons of ****e to play it :P Have the RRoD right now so that doesn't help :rolleyes:

Edit: Oh yea, it's pretty good, don't know if i'd buy it though....

I played through the demo last night. The gameplay isn't mind blowing, but the music and voice acting is excellent. The

options to remove the swearing and gore are excellently presented

.

I don't think I'll buy it when it comes out, but perhaps sometime in the future.

Played the deom last night. REally enjoyed it. Comedy is excellent! I've been looking forward to this one for a long time!

Played it there a day or so ago, loved it. The humour is top-notch Schafer, and Jack Black is great as Eddie. Gameplay is good but I can see people thinking its a bit linear while the full game has a lot more open-world elements. And yes the options for swearing and gore were brilliant "....the full roadie experience"

Plus, greatest title screen ever!!

Would agree with this. The gameplay is relatively basic but a lot of fun - loved little touches like the kick-ass handbrake turn or the simple riff mini-game. I laughed out loud a couple of times throughout the demo (as said, the parental filters are brilliant). Playing on the Xbox I would have preferred the controls for the axe and the guitar to be switched around (I didn't check to see if you could change) but I'd say you'd get used to it quickly - just opposite to what I'm used to!

The menu screen is by far the greatest menu screen to ever grace a computer game. It just keeps getting cleverer as you push right!

Will probably pick this up on day one, along with Uncharted 2, as I'm a big Schafer fan. It will be a busy month or so starting on (R)October 16th.

I played a bit of Psychonauts when it first came out and it didn't really pull me in straight away. I thought it was funny, but the gameplay wasn't amazing, however from what I played the voice acting seemed top notch.

I put it to the side, and said I'd come back to it later. Two years later I finally came back to it and finished it and it's now up there in my top 5 best games ever created.

I won't be making the same mistake with Brutal Legend. I'd advise anyone who isn't immediately blown away by the demo and thinking about buying it later, or putting it on the back burner to reconsider.

When your kids ask you "Where were you when Brutal Legend was released" do you really want to tell them "oh I was doing something else, playing a game you've never heard of called Call of Warfare 2 or something"... do you really want to see that look of shame for their father? Well do you?

Don't think there are plans yet to release it on the PC. There'll probably be a PC demo out for it next year, when the console sales have dropped off.

Completed the demo there and I get nothing but good feelings from this. From the clip at the end it looks like it's going to be amazing.

Gameplay is solid, but the voice acting and cutscenes are second to none. Think I laughed at least once during every one of them. In fact I don't think a game has made me actually laugh since Psychonauits.

Will be picking this up for the PS3 the day it's released.

I'm really looking forward to this now. Brilliant humour and voice acting. The gameplay was simple but enjoyable. I imagine there will be a bit more to the full game.

Its amazing to see that someone can take a third person action adventure and after all these years do it so right.

I watched Burning Eclipse off here play through this last weekend and it seemed very entertaining/clever.

This months purchase will probably be Forza 3 but when this drops in price I will definitely get it I imagine

The sad thing is, within a couple of months, as soon as the initial buzz dies down this will have dropped to bargain basement prices.
Not so sad for the consumer I guess, but I really want to see Tim Schafer do well out of this one... Dude deserves some recognition!

If I was home with my xbox I'd be buying this straight away. As it is though I won't be for ages so I probably will be picking it up when its cheaper just cos I won't be back for a few months

Same applies to L4D2, although i doubt Valve will be dropping the price on Steam much.

Yeah I also watched a bit of psychonauts being played and my god that man has some imagination/talent

Yeah, think this is definitely the case. Psychonauts was probably one of the best games of the last generation but was sadly overlooked by the masses. Brutal Legend is a day one purchase for me (and there aren't too many of them anymore!)

Played the Demo and thought "Wow, someone's really given this a lot of thought instead of just churning out another 3rd Person beat-em-um style game."

I'll probably get this at some stage, maybe not release day though - I can wait to pick it up second hand

I think the secret agent fantasy in Psychonauts is one of the greatest levels ever created, while the artist one has some of the best art design I've ever seen in a game. Tim Schafer is someone who realises the inherent fun in games, and it helps that he is hilarious.

I can see second hand purchases of this game killing any profit that might be made on it. The only people who benefit from second hand purchases are gamestop etc. and the dev isn't rewarded for having the balls to make a new ip, which is something rare these days. I'll be buying this new for sure, if nothing else, then as a thank you to the devs.

I don't think 6 out of 10 is "tearing a game apart". That's 3 stars. That's above average.

Not in the insane world of games "journalism" it isn't. Anything below 70-80% seems to be considered sh1t.

Anyone know if the US version of this is region free? Play-asia doesn't know. If it is I'll pick it up here and play it on the 360 in my house here and then take it home with me when the time comes

Played it last night,

a bit of back story, I love Jack Black as much as any man can love another without getting the sexah time, so this game should be nothing but gold to me

except it wasnt, I thought it was pretty boring, im not far into it but it just seemed to be a bit dull. I was happy to stop playing after a couple of hours.

The humour is great, its the game play thats the problem. Also if you die at a section the characters will say the same thing at the same time, every time! pretty annoying

I'll give it more of a chance but colour me disspointed so far.

You know what, that's a very fair point and not one I had considered. However, I simply don't have the sort of money required to buy release day games and so normally pick them up second hand (or on the PC as it'll be anywhere between €15 and €30 cheaper).

I guess I'll have to start buying more online, but I'm at the stage in life where most of my "anticipated" releases are on the PC (and so not anywhere near as expensive as console) and I like wandering into a game shop to pick things up for my XBox when I'm a bit bored - it's my "casual gaming" device if you will

I guess that's more of a discussion for another thread, but I think I may just have to buy this game new if for no other reason that I think Tim Schafer deserves my thanks.

Jack Black's a lightweight man he'd be crawling out of a proper pit holding a gushing nose, blood streaming. so he's the all round 'Dood' now we gotta tolerate him wax bloody metallikur or something

i dunno Metacritic's not bn set alight by it... but the low reviews are probs by ravers..
their opinions are completely insignificant - need to play the demo i think

HMV have it for 45.

Got it today. fun game. when i clear it ill be trading it in as soon as. No replay value. Multiplayer is kinda boring.

Still though, its worth a rent. I bought it as i dont have time to play it in a week!!

I played it a bit more last night and things were certainly better.

I got to the RTS parts and they are actually really good.

Overall its been decent, but it wont be on any of my game of the year lists thats for sure

I love me some metal! And I love Schafer, so this is a match made in heaven (or hell, just to keep with the tone of the game) for me! Finished it already, but there's still lots to do and see. Also, for those who have completed it

the scene where Ophelia commits suicide, only to be taken by the black tears, with Mr. Crowley in the background

is about the most perfect scene I can remember ever seeing in a game. Loved it, and while I can see it's flaws (it's short and... am...) that wouldn't stop me recommending it to anyone who has a sense of humour or appreciates good music

Tell me about it. They were my sentiments exactly. You're about 2/3 of the way through it. If you haven't been doing secondary quests I'd get on the immediately, just to prolong it!

I'm gonna start it again tonight!

Yeh I'v done every sidequest so far! Might take some time to search for motor forges and stuff.

I was over in my mates house playing it again last night. Did some races and went looking for bound dragons for the buffs they offer. Found the

flaming zepplin

solo and it's effects are just fantastic

In terms of a game mechanic, they work well too but it's a pain in the arse that they take as long as they do to deliver whilst you're being bashed by enemies.

The RTS element of it isn't perfect, but it's not bad either. We were driving around the

Dry Ice Mines

and spotted the potential merch stand locations and figured "this is gonna take some time" but haven't tackled that mission yet.

Overall, I'm still blown away by the artwork and design of the game. There have been complaints of a lack of polish - I'm not inclined to agree fully, but we found a place where we got stuck and had to reload a checkpoint and there's a lot of niggly bits of scenery where the clipping is awkward and your car will end up getting needlessly caught up. The cameos are good and it was nice to hear some Ministry too

It's a good game, I'm curious about the multiplayer and replay value of it though.

Cleared!! Damn I did not want that to end.

Now I have to do the damn hunting missions, they're so tedious.

Looking forward to just driving around just looking for collectables.
