Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I prefer to pay someone to do it for me tbh, once a month or so.

I'll quickly hoover the inside every so often if it needs doing.

Fridays used to be cleaning day for me and then once a month I'd give up Sunday pints for a deep clean day which usually involved removing parts of the car to clean them.

Sadly now I'm starting a business I've not had a chance to even wash the car. I think I had it washed for my brothers wedding...back in October.

it's the English people that wash the car every week

I don't know many that do it here

You name them I've removed them to clean them. I often enough pull seats out to shampoo carpets, even on customer cars. You can't say a car is truly clean till you start removing parts to get in the crevices.

Old car but thought I'd include one of my proudest cleaning accomplishments done about 3 years ago. No pre pictures but trust me the paint was a mess.

Every Friday evening. 25 minutes has the car washed and dried and tyres dressed. Might give the wheels a wipe down mid week.

I have to clear the back of the car today as I have passengers going to a match. Very excited that I might discover what that curious smell is

I usually wash mine shortly before it rains. Not intentionally, it just seems to work out that way! I enjoy having it clean and fresh looking, but I tend to get anal about it then. Normally, in whatever weather, I'll drive happily about without a care in the world, but after a wash, I'm strenuously avoiding puddles, mud on the road, mucky entrances etc. And of course, in time, I finish up back at square one, mucky again.

But it's an enjoyable exercise, therapeutic even. The downside is the fact that it tends to show up all the blemishes and imperfections!

Can't believe people have that much spare time to wash and hoover weekly. Would there be anything to hoover after a week. Usually when the pebbles start to gather in the foot well its time to shovel them out, maybe hoover.

Usually fri evening, some part of sat or sun. Once I have the school runs done. Just the inside in winter though, kibda pointless washing the muck off to drive 10 ft up the road and to have it covered in muck

I spent 2 hours on mine today, great weather for it. done inside and out, looking immaculate now! i'd love to post a few pics but it's a company van and has sign writing all over so I can't.:(

Spent a few hours on the car today, took the wheels off and cleaned the inside bits. Makes more of a difference than I'd have thought.

i'd be afraid to start taking stuff off or i'd end up with calipers and brake pads all over the garden and no idea how to put them back on.......but they'd be gleaming though!:p

I used to wash the car once a week on Sunday with wax shampoo and a microfiber mit. A thorough interior clean once a month. De tar and polish and wax twice a year.

I have two kids now. I now wash myself when time permits and take the car to the car wash on a Sunday after my weekend run if the house isn't like the riots in Kiev.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,422 ✭✭✭Avns1s

Mine gets a wash the morning of a wedding or some other such event and on a very odd Sat or Sun in between when I cant stand the look of it any more!

One of those Saturdays happened to be today. It took 3 hours to get the flipping tar off. What the feck are they using to fill those potholes nowadays!!! I have about a bucket of it to return!!

I normally clean the car on a Saturday. I try to clean it every second weekend that doesn't always happen but at the same time its almost never left anymore than a month without a clean. If I was really busy I might just clean the inside I can't deal with the whole dirty car interior thing it's much nicer to drive around and sit in something that's clean.

25 mins for the whole car?! I'd spend that on the wheels/tyres/arches alone :o

Do frig all miles and the car is always clean. I know you guys like to go to town with snowfoam and power washers, two bucket wash for me gets 90% results in 20% of the time. ;)

Saturday is usually my day. At this time of the year it's whenever there is a Sat I can do it, other than that the cars get a wash, hoover and trim polish every week. The more often you do it the less time and easier it is is my motto.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,487 ✭✭✭✭Alun

I usually do mine on the 29th February :D

That is unbelievabley true it's Luke ritual in the UK,just look at the difference of a 10year old car on donedeal then try eBay UK the difference is huge.
    They maintain cars better too.

Got her washed, waxed, and dried over lunch today - not a bad job for €15

Seems to be a bit of a posh spot though (just down from Sandyford/Dundrum in a former petrol station) - there was 2 new-ish Range Rovers, a Bentley, SL350, CL500, vintage Rover and a new white A4 all in the queue as well.

Need to hoover her out now too but I will do that tomorrow afternoon if the weather holds and I get home a little earlier.

Every second day, sometimes every day depending on road conditions.

I drive for a living, I wouldn't live in squalor and I damn sure wouldn't work in it.

Think he could be talking about the one in Churchtown on the road from Mcgowans to the river dodder.
There's an old petrol station (jet I think) that often has rare or old cars parked up outside.

Saw a Countach (most likely the replica that I've seen floating around on the odd occasion) and a Corniche last Sunday.
