Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone else familiar with these guitars? Seems to be a fair few metal players signing up with these guys. They'll cost you about a grand, plus shipping & customs from Ibeke. But damn, don't they look nice? 27 frets, and I have to say, I like the rather novel approach to pickup switching:

    Just looks very nice altogether:

If I ever head to Japan again, I might just have to bring home another baby. ;)
Or maybe that rather tasty 27 Fret Edwards that the Doc posted a while back?

Yeah, I've been GAS on GAS off over these for a few years. It's just the headstock really that gets me, I've yet to come around to really liking it. Still, even in Japan, where guitars are sanely priced, they are rather expensive, so my twisted logic says they have to be rather special indeed.

Yeah, well I'm sure next time I'm over there, I'll try and give 'em a go and let you know what I think. They are Japanese made instruments though, so they're more than likely immaculate.

Just priced the Edwards, and it seems like it's a better deal:

Neck-through, nicer inlays, top, headstock, pickups, binding, and it's about €200 cheaper.

God i love caparisons, that tone that look i just cant get over em. Gassing over a christopher ammot signiture for around the last 2 years or so.MMMMMM what a tasty guitar.

Aparently the only place you can get em in europe is some shop in poland, anyone know more about this?

Why would you bother wanting to get them in Europe? Just order from Japan.

I really like that Edwards. If they had a 7 string version of that I'd be all over it like a fat kid on cheesecake.

Try buying a high end Ibanez in Europe and compare it to the Japanese prices, including jazz. ;)

I'm still waiting for ishibashi to send me this:

Hopefully Ace will get back to me some time this week, as this was supposed to arrive in late July. I didn't check about the black cherry or natural finish, but the honey sunburst won't be available until October.

Now I am waiting for Ishibashi to send you that too :D

    Agreed.

I'd go for the Black Cherry one myself though. That just looks sweet as hell. :D

I think Caparisons look hideous. The head stock looks like an elf slipper. Boo-urns. Boo-urns, I say.

There's a whole troop of Caparison fan boys on the Harmony Central Amps forum. They've ruined that place for the rest of us. ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yeah, I'm not too fond of the headstock either. I think the Edwards definetly has it beat. I'd still love to try one out next time I'm in Japan though. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

Bah that headstock is SEX like. If i didnt have only one kidney left ( a warwick took my other one) id sell it and get me a christoper ammot sig. LOOKS CLASS.

No, that's Mike Amott's sig. He's talking about Chris Amott, who uses Caparison.

Guitar Asylum? Why in the name of Bo Diddley would you even bother looking at that site for the price of a Japanese Guitar? Sense it makes not! Go Japanese, Ibeke for the win! €1400, then taxies and whatnot after that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

Ooohhh... hadn't seen this one in natural. Very nice

It should be illegal to sell them at this price

Edwards guitars seem sweet indeed but that particular model does nothing for me. Too much abalone. That's the problen with Deluxe Ltds as well.

I see where you're coming from, and I kinda agree, just a bit too much binding on there, and inlay work. Looks too busy. I think the Ibanez J Customs get it just right.

But Edwards is owned by ESP, so what's to be expected, eh? ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

I usually hate abalone but for some reason... I am bewitched... :o

Watched the Killswitch Engage DVD again last night so went back to my "I <3 Caparison" mood. The only downside as far as I can see is that their paint jobs are fairly boring and since I'm not a fan of natural finishes its really only the headstock (and tone) that make me want one. :D

Guitar finally arrived this morning, I'll post some pics after I get a new hard case. The padding in this one is torn at the top point of the headstock.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

It doesn't exist without pics and nobody cares about the hardcase, it's what's inside the hardcase that counts :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yeah, hurry up with the pics! I wanna see! :D

Quite miffed to find this box arrive this morning, as I had said to Ace I wasn't interested in the Les Paul Custom in the U-box; then here comes postie with a Gibson Flying V box.
Worked out OK in the end.

Oh man that is sweet. How does it play and sound (stupid question but for the sake of formaility :) )?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭The_g-man

The sound out of it you say? I won't know until next week when my amp arrives.:( But it plays sweet and was in perfect tune straight out of the box.

The one thing leaving a smile on my face right now is seeing the ESP price tag still on the back.
They were looking for ¥162,750 (¥155,000), yet ishibashi somehow makes a profit of delivering this to my door for ¥124,000. Now if only customs hadn't cut in on this I would have been on the right side of a grand.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

    Sweet. I want one. :)

    What amp are you getting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭The_g-man

I was looking at buying an ENGL screamer on impulse, but I just missed out on that one:o, so I'm settling for a peavey classic 30.

Settling for a classic 30? Hmm, I don't like the sound of 'Settling for' at all, maybe it's not what you'd really want?

I just don't like the idea of selling an amp for €80 and replacing it with one that costs over a grand. Unless you'd considering giving me a good deal on your ENGL......;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

    Wow, nice one man!

I hope you didn't sell your bass to finance this! ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

Very nice :) I wouldnt mind a shot of that ;) , ive been curious as to what they are like for a while now...

Seriously though, you dont want to play that baby through a classic 30 (nothing wrong with them btw) - you want high gain all the way !:D

Don't worry Ancient1, I'm not letting go of the bass that easy.:D voodoo_child, I'll be using the classic 30 for my other guitar, for this one I'm thinking of checking out the roland cube x range when they come out.

Apparently they're due out in October, I can use the classic 30 while I'm waiting.
    KH, worth a shot.

About 3/4 of the way down the page, seems like an american release date. And don't say no just yet, that was only the 20x, wait for the video for the 30x.:p
