Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pages not found for me.

I loved the last few games, though I thought the Venice expansion was lacking of extra features. Day one buy for me though!

I also loved the previous games, let's hope this one is good too.

The war aspect would add a massive new dimension to gameplay. It has to be implemented well though, its a big ask but i hope they pull it off! Looks like a very promising game

I've preorded the collectors edition on amazon :)

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 80,755 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sephiroth_dude

    so anyone getting this?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

I'm gonna wait until the reviews come out. I don't really have enough time to play everything at the moment so unless the reviews are mind-blowing, it'll be a filler for me

  • Registered Users Posts: 505 ✭✭✭murphm45

The demo looks decent but it seems a bit taxing on the computer.

These games are great but a bit too addictive so i might give it a miss ... for a while at least.

Ok the demo's sold it for me.

Great demo. Really liking the fact that they're attempting something new in the series.

    Nice review up on Destructoid.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

Game is getting universal praise. 89% is the lowest review I've seen so far. Getting the game towards the end of the week!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 3,093 Mod ✭✭✭✭ktulu123

Played the demo there, really good! Think i'll get this, not liking the steam price tag though. Anywhere cheaper to get it?

wasn't all that impressed by the demo but it's getting great reviews, so I think I'll pick it up. Need a good strategy game until SOTS2 is made playable.

Is this kind of SimCity? Looking for something like that for a while, and the screenshots of ANNO remind me of SimCity in a way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,789 ✭✭✭grizzly

It's very like sim city. The way you have to make the most out of the space provided to you.

I know it's asking too much, but can you accidentally kill your entire city by say... building a nuclear reactor (or fifteen) next to some highly combustible plant/laser factory? Always liked that Russian Roulette factor in SimCity 2000 :P

Its nothing like sim city IMO,You gather resources, trade, discover new resources etc etc,no blowing things up as far as I'm aware anyway :-P

It is more of a trading / business sim like Industry giant - working out supply chains, trade routes etc

Really not a fan of U Play but I think this is probably the best Anno game yet.

    Sinking hours into it atm.

Ah sh|te. Don't think I'll be buying it so.

  • Legal Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 5,400 Mod ✭✭✭✭Maximilian

It's not the version of it where you have to be connected to play, else I wouldn't have bought it either. All of the main missions and the sandbox mode can be played offline, as I discovered the other night when their servers were borked. That said, there's elements that can't be accessed without being connected. You can live without those though.

I want this game but really can't decide whether I can bear to pay full price for it. I could be waiting ages for it to go on sale though.

Is the game good enough to pay full price for? Itching for a good economic simulation at the moment.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 80,755 Mod ✭✭✭✭Sephiroth_dude

I meant the website :) it was working out at 44 euro on amazon but if you have a voucher your sorted.

    Got it on g2play.net

€20.99, or €19.99 when I used the points that I had from buying with them before. Downloaded it from Ubisoft, installed, activated online, and when I left it, it was updating.

    Manual update: http://games.softpedia.com/get/Patch/ANNO-2070-Patch.shtml

    /edit 2
    From: http://www.annofans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=363
    1) go to folder c(or drive where windows is installed to)\windows and launch regedit.
    2) search in HKEY_USERS for folder chain Software\Related Designs\AutoPatcher\ProxyConfig and open file UseProxy.
    3) change 1 to 0
    4) play the game
    Seems to be doing something.

Aye. Well, I can confirm it works. I now must figure out how to play it

Also, I have no sound in it.

Apparently the game has surpassed half a million brick & mortar sales

  • Legal Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 5,400 Mod ✭✭✭✭Maximilian

And no doubt Ubi are still moaning about piracy. I imagine the digital sales exceed that figure.
