Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I must get a Three micro sim for my elephone to see if that works. Would anyone know if carphone warehouse would be able do this or would I have to go to a Three store?

Go into car phone warehouse they'll more than likely cut your Sim down for you free of charge.

Thanks. Never realised they were just a cut down sim. Hopefully they'll have a sim cutter. What clown made them that size in the first place.

No I understand its a reputable, unofficial distributor within EU.

I think they only do EU shipping when you select that option at checkout. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I added the mi3 to my cart on that site and there is 4 shipping options.

    1. EU warehouse $48
    2. DHL $32.90
    3. Standard $19
    4. EMS $47

"You can choose shipment from Shenzhen China, or EU Warehouse.
The advantage of shipment from EU Warehouse is that members of European Union would enjoy customs duty free. Especially recommend customers from Greek, Spain, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, and Croatia chooses shipment from EU Warehouse, to avoid high tax and customs issue. For EU Warehouse shipment service, we provide two kinds of service: EU Warehouse Airmail and EU Warehouse Express. The only difference of these two services is Delivery Time and Cost. EU Warehouse Airmail delivery time is around 4-12 business days via registered airmail service, EU Warehouse Express delivery time normally is around 2-5 business days via AIR UPS, DHL,or GLS."

I'm pretty sure I suggested the Nubia Z7 Max farther up the thread to someone looking for a 4g 5.5"-er, might have been you, had you ruled it out? Just interested in what might have put you off it. For me, it was the screen size.
Is it out yet? Yeah it was me you recomended it to but I couldnt find it for sale or even a final price, it was just preorders everywhere at suspiciously low prices that I assumed were just placeholders...

Hmmm, €350 on Merimobiles, pricey enough:

Im going to wait, Id say there are 25% drops or more imminent for a lot of these phones.

That's how it worked for me. I was trying to select a case that wasn't available from either of the EU warehouses at first, so I wasn't getting that shipping option, took a while for the penny to drop.

It's actually cheaper on merimobiles by at least $30 including shipping, maybe the price just changed? :/

So basically, he should try cancel it or change to eu shipping. If that's DHL from China, the phone is more expensive than normal and possibly higher custom fees too.

It happened with the dual core generation, just a guess on my part but there will be 3 GB octacores everywhere on the run up to Christmas and everything will most likely be 4G from now on so these early ones should drop, same as happens with all tech really.

Three micro sim won't work on the elephone p8 either. So anyone getting the phone it looks like we can't be on three. This sucks big time. Don't know what to do now.

Did they cut the sim or get a new one? Because it could be a problem with the sim itself.

They cut it but how could it be a problem with the Sim if it work perfectly in other phones?

I've heard of strange sim issues like this before that were resolved by getting a new sim. It doesn't make sense why it wouldn't work unless there's a problem with it as the phone supports Threes network bands.

Only the 16gb version, and its way overpriced most places. Ibuygou would be the best option imo http://www.ibuygou.com/p-xiaomi_mi4_smart_phone_snapdragon_801_quad_core_2_5ghz_3gb_ram_16gb_rom_5_inch_screen_13_0mp_3080mah__wcmda_version_-6189.html

Fixxer's Mi4 was bouncing around the Far East but on route earlier today, I think s/he ordered it from xiaomishop.com (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=91850411&postcount=6078).

Just remember that the version on sale at the moment doesn't have 4G enabled.

What's the likelyhood of getting nabbed with customs on this, and if so how much would one expect to pay

It depends on alot of factors, obviously can't talk too much about this kind of thing.

If customs decide to pick your package it will be 23% of the declared value + 6 euro handling fee (if declared over 22 euro). There's also a slim chance they will ask for an invoice if the declared value doesn't seem right.

Just back from three store now. She put in a Sim and it was the same as mine. Recognizes it for about 30 seconds and then says "incompatible handset" and then no coverage.

She said this can happen with Chinese phones and that I should go to an unlocking shop to get it unlocked. Now I'm guessing that won't work because it is already meant to be unlocked.

    Any ideas?

Dual sim and have tried both. Have a tesco sim in now and its working perfect. Might switch to them on Monday. I think they have unlimited everything (15gb data) for €25 a month. How bad. Phone isn't a complete dud anyway

Perhaps try a different ROM in the mean time?

Have you experience with flashing ROM's?
    Is it already on kitkat?

    have a look here:

    http://www.needrom.com/category/elephone/p8/

do a backup before you attempt to do any of this.
    Might be worth a shot.

give them a read and see which is the least buggy.

I'd say away from the official ones, the custom ones usually sort out any problem the stock one's might have.

you can always revert back to your old setup, aslong as you backup before you do it.

Could be something to do with Three being 3G only. In network settings there should be an option to choose between gsm only, wcdma only, gsm/wcdma. Check if wcdma only will work.

There's still hope :) Try enter these APN settings

    http://ask3.three.ie/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL/,/?Command=New,Kb=ROIWebportal,Ts=ROIWebBusiness,T=CaseDoc,varset_Catid=10155,Case=obj%289554%29

Also what happens when you search for networks, does 3 show up?

Thanks again. Those settings were in there already. Ya 3 shows up when I search manually. Then I select it it says "can't connect to this network at the moment. Try again later"

I'd say it just won't work. Must just be a problem with the phone itself.

Also this is strange. When you go to Sim management it will show my phone number in my thl. In the elephone it shows a different number and won't let me change it.
