Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

To get Swype working again after I restored it I had to uninstall it and then rerun the Swype installer program (don't uninstall this!!), then set up as originally.

I had the installer APK on my SD card (you had to download it to your phone from your phones browser, so there is a good chance you still have it)

Is there a place where you can pay for a rooting service, like the Apple jailbreaking ones? I would love froyo on my hero.

Its very easy to do....paying someone to do it would be a complete waste of money!

Seriously there is an abundance of walktrhoughs on google and youtube. I done it first time no problems and although it does look to do a bit complicated but its not!

Go for it...and once you have a nandroid back-up you should be able to undo anything you've done anyway!

Thanks, just had a look, for some reason I appear to have 5 copies of it on my SD card:eek:

Took the plunge today and upgraded to 1.4. Did a Titanium backup first, then did a full wipe and flashed the 1.4 zip file and 1.4.1 update.

Very impressed so far, no missing Sense at all. All my apps were restored intact. Much faster and smoother with Froyo, managed to beat my high score in Homerun Battle 3D first time out :D.

The Villainrom Updater doesn't seem to be working though, anyone else with this problem (operation timing out)? Didn't change the kernel either, is this worth doing?

Too much work to install 1.4.3, I'm just going to wait for 1.5

Im back to villainrom12 after trying froydvillain for a few weeks. It got quite sluggish. There were a few niggly little problems from time to time. Hadnt even many apps installed. Missed the sense widgets. VR12 by far the best rom I've used.

Also lately I have started getting the problem a lot of people report with the bottom of the touchscreen not working all the time. They say its a hardware fault but it definitely seems to be a software fault. It happens only particular types of menus and the keyboard. Not blaming froyo for that though.

1.5 was released during the night. GPS fully working, and lots of stability and speed fixes. Can be flashed over an earlier version, but best done from wipe.

2 full days running it, no problems. If I was being picky, I only like part of the blue theme (I don't like the radio buttons or lock screen, but like everything else about the theme). The original vanilla theme is now downloadable from the link I posted above.

You flashed an overclock kernel as a matter of interest?

I've stuck with the stock one for now. On 1.2 i was using google navigation for less than 20 mins and the phone got ridicously hot, I'm presuming the overclock (was using it at 691) was either the cause or at least a contributing factor.

I flashed the 652 kernel. Not sure it makes a huge difference to be honest.

Have gotten at least 2 freezes and 4 random reboots with the rom over last day and a half. Reboots have happened when phone idle, listening to music, unlocking phone and when in use, so basically every situation. Reading over at Villain Forums lots of people getting reboots as well. Changed the CPU settings to interactive when screen off and have upped my lower freq to 176. Previously had no probs with as low as 19.

Oh how I yearn for the stability of VR12 with the performance of Froyd :o

Same deal random reboots also freezing on certain programs and getting some sort of forced close of a google app even though i didnt open it?

I've had a few random lockups mostly while listening to music. Had to reboot a few times in order to use the phone. Not looked too deep into it yet. On the 652 no boot animation kernel.

No reboots or freezes since I switched to SetCPU but the battery is taking a hammering. Fully charged at midnight. Up at 7.30 battery down to 70%, now have to charge it.

    Seriously considering VR12 again.

One more thing, anyone able to play mp4's? Worked with VR12, there some HTC component that makes the playback work?

A few random reboots in the past week. Might wipe and do a clean install, as I just flashed over the previous version.
