Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rough idea of cost

    So a friend is trying to remove her name from the deeds of the estranged husband's house. The house is also in her name but he's being a dick about various things and she moved out two years ago. What would need to be done to recoup her share in the property and how much would such an action cost?

    Your friend should contact a solicitor, it would be impossible to give any idea of costs or what's involved without a detailed consultation.

    Yes but she's concerned that a solicitor would be looking for money up front and that just isnt an option:(

    How would removing her name from the deeds help her in recovering any share of the property at all?
    By removing herself from the deed she surely is renouncing her ownership?
    The only way I can see that working is if the estranged husband buys out his wife share of the property and her name is removed from the Deed as part of that transaction.

    Is there a mortgage on the house? If so is the house in negative equity?
    If there is, the decision to remove someone on the deed becomes complicated by the banks interest in the property and fact that the Lender will view both parties to the mortgage as jointly and severally liable for the full amount owed.

    Most solicitors offer the 1st consultation free, see a few and see what advice/consensus they offfer and decide how to proceed from there.

    Has she asked a solicitor, has she asked legal aid can she get legal aid ss it seem to be a family law matter.
