    Hi all,

I'm on the look out for a 325i coupe either 2009/2010 (for cheap tax reasons-€570) . I have come to the conclusion that I will be traveling to the UK to get my car as I have never ever seen a post 2008 325i in Ireland.

Not really interested in 320i's put could be tempted to go for a 330i.

Just wandering if anyone knows of any for sale around Ireland..??

Been looking for a while now and I reckon this could be the one..

Fair play, going for a proper petrol car :) I love the cheesy mural of the Lear jet yer man uses as a backdrop for his photos - totally says "I've just jetted in from Monaco and am hopping in my 325i/320d/335i etc etc etc" about the car :)

All the 6 cylinder petrol of that vintage are 3.0 litre..it makes for cheaper manufacturing..They are then de-tuned etc for lower Co2 and thus cheaper tax.. Well thats the idea anyway :)

That is the car I set out to buy a while back...

Test drove a 320d saloon and ended up convincing myself it was the better option.

    Such is life...

Very nice..I would guess its one of the only ones for sale in the country. Mileage is a tad high, I would plan on keeping it for about 4 years..

    Great suggestion though!!

Nope afaik they all have the same 2996cc engine just with different computers etc to bring down the bhp/Co2. I may be corrected on that one

You are correct after ~2006 they started to use the N52B30 engine which is 3.0 litre, depending on intake and engine map it produced 218HP in the 325i and 258HP in the 330i

If you get a post 08 model it doesnt really matter whether its 2.5 or 3 litre. But a 3.0 litre 325i on the old tax system is a bit of a kick in the stones :pac:

The post 08 3.0 uses BMW's efficient dynamics technology which seems to be very troublesome on the 4 cylinder models (i know of two 320is which are constantly having coil pack issues). Not sure if it's the same for the 6 cyl models but worth looking into.

The very early e9x 325i was a 2.5L 6 pot (same power, less torque), it wasn't until 2008 that the newer variants came about which meant both the 325i and 330i were essentially the same 3L 6 pot lump with ECU/ancillary differences. The 335i was always a 3L 6 pot lump with the addition of turbos.

That which has been detuned can be retuned. A remap is on the card :)

with the 325 coupe you will save E510 a year in tax BUT pay 5000 more, as opposed to the 06/07 cc based 325 BUT take a look at the below

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/3-Series/325CI-CO/33913606656714110/advert?channel=CARS

    http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/3-Series/325I-SE-/31413595538728440/advert?channel=CARS

I have also read that there newer 3L 325 has multiple reliability issues that the 06/07 2.5L doesnt have. Id do my research if I were you...

Did you look at the 2008 325i coupe on carzone for €15.9k OP? 38k miles and it's on the new tax system. Can't link as on phone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 345 ✭✭DAZP93

Yeah I know what you both mean but I always look to jump up about 5 years or so and keep the car a further 5 so ideally I'm looking to go for something with nice low mileage and a maximum of 4 years old..:)

Ideally an M-sport but if it saves me cash over the 2010 I was looking at in the UK that means I can upgrade sooner down the line to the next car.

Saying that I still reckon Il be going to the UK anyway..Feck all choice over here
