Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Charity Fundraising Ideas

Doing a half-marathon in 4 weeks, but still have another €300 to raise to meet the target (which most people exceed!!), the charity is a children's hospital.

I have no idea how I'm going to get this money. I've already raised just over €120 so I can't pull out, but I'd like to at least meet the target.

Does anyone have any good ideas I could do? Bearing in mind it's after Christmas, people don't have that much money.

    Thanks AH.

Edit: I should say that I don't have that many close friends, I'm a fairly quiet person at the best of times - might have been a bit much to take on a charity fundraiser :S

Ask the local pub/gaa club to have a benefit night.
Or get people to do a charity head shaving/waxing.
Spread the word on facebook and you'll exceed your target in no time.
    Best of luck!

    Thanks for the answers.

I like the tshirt idea, wonder would many businesses be willing to do that? Worth a try!

I'm not sure about coffee mornings / table quizzes, I just don't think I know enough people to actually generate any sort of turnout at those things.
If it helps I'm a college student?

Ask in the college, I'm sure you would get some donations and help from other students.

Do you have to raise €300 to enter? the charity will be grateful for any donation.

I don't think I *have* to raise a certain amount of money, it's just a target or benchmark, but it's pretty low by regular fundraiser standards so I'd like to have at least reached it!

Is it socially acceptable these days to ask neighbours for sponsorships? My neighbours would know who I am but we wouldn't talk that often.

yes of course it is, no harm in asking they can only say yes or no.
would you put up some flyers in college and ask for €1 donation, see how it goes. Most people would donate a €1.

    Thanks for the answers!

Asked some of the neighbours around me today, they all gave very generously so that's another €60 to the fund!

Still quite a bit to go, but every little helps. My parents are giving me a bit of a grief, as they think I'm expecting them to "bail me out" (my dad says I shouldn't take things like this on as I'm clearly incapable of organising it). I'm sure they'll throw a tenner or 20 my way nearer the time though :)

I find it quite awkward to actually ask people for a donation though, I'll just have to have a bit of a thick neck though!

Some good ideas mentioned, any ideas how I can raise €3000 by July???

I'm a TY student and need to raise it to Climb Kilimanjaro this summer, €500 of it goes to charity and the rest I have to raise myself, through whatever means available...

Anyone want to help me out?
