It's on a Corolla right? Is it a saloon?

    Question 1

Have you checked if there are any wires attached to the back of the switch?

If you answered no to question 1, please check for wires now

If you answered yes to question 1, please proceed to question 2

    Question 2

If there are wires connected to the switch, have you checked where they lead to?

If you answered no to question 2, please check the terminal location of the wires now

If you answered yes to question 2, please proceed to question 3

    Question 3

Where the **** do the wires go??

All good questions. How to access? Sledgehammer to the dash?

    That is definitely one option.

Another option might be to try and pry out the panel those three switches are on, as it looks like it clips into the dash

Actually, looking at it again, is it located to the right of the steering wheel? If so take off the cowling around the steering column, you should be able to check/release it from there

The wheel is down by the handbrake.

No, i've not figured it out. I've toggled it but no luck :(

Lol, I figured there would be a billion and a half versions with different arrangements. I looked for "Corolla mirror adjustment control" and got like 300 pictures of different buttons, rockers and dials.

I can imagine going to buy a part: "I need this, it's for a 2002 Corolla!" - "Ah sure, but is it from January, March or October? Which week? Morning or afternoon production? the name of the engineer signing it off?" :D

Yeah I thought they stopped making them in 2000.
that's an April 2000 to mid 2002 car, I'd bet, bought one new in Aug 2000

I got front fog's added in the garage to mine Corolla, that's where they put the switch, I'd presume that's what its for here. They just used a generic switch?
I presume you've started the car, turned on the lights, and flicked the switch and checked?

if you don't have front fogs fitted, were they removed at some stage?

Open a small compartment located below them buttons and remove it.

Put your fingers into the hole and push them off.

    Almost. :p

RHD 4ZZ-FE hatchbacks were made October 1999 until June 2001.

So you found the Toyota recall switch!!
If you turn it on the dash will flicker red to warn of recalls on your car as you pass wifi areas..
Don't worry though it has probably burnt out the bulb by overuse!!

Only when the switch is in the downward position.

In my 1.4 Corolla, I've never been able to figure it out.

On my 1.4 Corolla, where the light switch is, there's a blank button. Thus probably someone put whatever was missing. Cruise control, maybe?

    Subwoofer toggle switch. Defo.

OP, if you've operated the switch and nothing appears to be happening, your only remaining course of action is to remove it and see if it's actually got any wires connected to it and then follow those wires to see where they end up.
Removing/disassembling dashboard trim isn't usually too difficult, but it does require a bit of thought and care so as not to break stuff or leave visible marks or gouges anywhere.
If you're not confident of doing this yourself, there's bound to be someone among your friends or relatives who could do it for you.

Its clearly for the underwater mode that all Corollas secretly have, like the Lotus from that Bond Movie.

I fitted a similar switch in a Fellah's car years ago.
Put a scrapyard windscreen washer pump and reservoir by the headlight so he could spray water sideways at people as a prank.

I always figured it would be a nice revenge to fill it with paint striper and hit the button when some prick undertook me on the hard shoulder At 140

they were't on sale in Ireland, till early 2000, saloon's weren't on sale till April.

in any case, the OP's reg looks to be a 02

Wrong. I have 2 saloons, one bought from dealer Jan 2000, built Oct 1999.

Reg is totally irrelevant - we're talking about build date - those, for obvious reasons, may be even a few months apart. :p

    OP's no saloon anyway.
