Hi, Am looking for hotel recommendations in Las Vegas. Hoping to go there for three nights next month. I want somewhere nice, on the main strip. I dont really want to go for one of the really expensive hotels unless the standard of the next price down hotels are really bad, on the other hand I dont want to end up in a horrible hotel for the sake of saving a few bob. Any ideas would be appreciated

Stratosphere hotel, end of strip, cheep & cheerful, beside pawn stars.

Stayed in the Luxor which is the one shaped like a pyramid. It's grand and great value. It's linked onto New York New York and the location was perfect.

If I was going back I would recommend the Venetian and the MGM.
Some other great places on the strip if you could could get a good deal is Balleys & The Cosmopolitan. stratosphere and Circus Circus are good value I believe, but I was turned off staying down that end of the strip as per recommendations online, it was advised that it may not be the safest area of town. Could be wrong but we didn't take the chance.

When exiting stratosphere hotel, turn right for strip, if turning left, have plenty of loose cigarettes for moochers.

+1 on the MGM Grand. Good value and comfortable rooms. (Go the extra for a Grand Queen room. About the size of two Irish hotel rooms.) Only been to Vegas once but I would go back in a heartbeat. All the resort hotels we visited looked pretty good. The Stratosphere was cool for the view etc but the hotel and casino had a bit of a low rent vibe.

Do not stay in the Strat.
It's not great at all and is out of the way. While technically it's on the Strip, it's at the north end with nothing in between there and the Wynn.

Planet Hollywood, MGM, Mirage, Monte Carlo, Caesars, Tropicana, NYNY, Paris are all decent hotels in the mid-price range.

You can use hotwire.com to get a good rate. Use Betterbidding.com to determine the hotel.
Remember taxes and resort fees are not shown in the ppn.

MGM is great, standard room at around €60 a night was really nicely furnished and had a massive bathroom. New York, New York is good value too but the MGM is nicer as it doesn't have any novelty theme, the rollercoaster is a must at night though. Enjoy Vegas!

It's all about resort fees also. Some hotels charge this per night. When I was over I noticed planet Hollywood advertised no fees. Could add to your end bill that you don't expect.

Try Ballys. It's cheep and cheerful. It's center strip so you are right in the middle of everything. Not the fanciest of hotels but the rooms are huge. It's connected to Paris by a really cool indoor walkway. Also Monte Carlo is probably slightly nicer and in and around the same price range, it's slightly further south. It's connected to Aria, City Center and Bellagio by the free mono rail. I'd stay here again in a heart beat. Do not underestimate distances in Vegas, everything is much further away than you think. If your only there for three days you do not want to stay far north or south. The Stratosphere is in a horrible area at the far north end of the strip and you will spend most of your time on the bus. MGM is a nice hotel but its so big and can take 15-20 mins just to get out on the strip.
