Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What do you know - I was having trouble accessing a site yesterday - it had a DDoS attack earlier in the week and maybe the same thing was hitting it again. Anyhow I f re-set the router, and whether it's coincidence or not my speeds are now good. As good as they ever were, that is to say.

The most depressing thing is that UPC are 400 meters away but are not connected in my estate. Pretty hard to run a home business selling software online on a 3mb internet connection but its the fastest connection I can get. Takes me over 4 hours to update my website.

    For those who are interested...

I moved to Paris in 1998 having just come for the weekend of the World Cup final.

    In 1999 I had a 512Kb ADSL line

    In 2002 I got a 2mb line

    In 2005 I got a 20Mb line

Now I have a 100Mb fiber. The router has a built-in 250Gb NAS server, support for up to 8 DECT phones, 4 1Gb Ethernet ports. 802.11n wifi with a touchscreen router so when the PC is dead you can still configure the modem if needed. 270+ TV channels (most are ****e) and free phone calls to all French landlines + mobiles and free calls to over 100 countries worldwide (landline) and USA mobiles.

Each offer has only ever cost €35.

I really can't say why things are 'slower' to come about in Ireland but here it's all down to competition and a healthy, free telecoms market. The only reason that I can get this deal at this price is that Free.fr needs to keep ahead of SFR (vodophone) and Orange ( Francetelecom) who both have almost the same offers available.

Your upload is typical of what you can expect from a DSL line generally uploads on DSL don't go over 0.80Mb/s and even the people who get that are lucky

Vodafone service, Clogherhead exchange. Pretty appalling speeds I'm sure you'll agree. Does anyone have any advice for how best to get Vodafone to improve the quality of my service? Is there a better way to get them to actually do something?

I've had an engineer (Eircom) out recently because of the phones going dead on 3 separate occasions (no signal on the engineers line in either which suggested an outside fault) who disconnected a couple of wires from behind the main phone line result of which is all the upstairs phone connections are dead. Great! And now this!

Eircom were poor, Vodafone are certainly getting there, anyone better?

    Cheers,
    David

I know very little about computers, but this result is fairly good isn't it? Yet my actual internet is pretty slow in comparison to most people I know, especially while gaming online, does anyone know why this would be?

Phoned Vodafone and spoke to an (admittedly irritable sounding but efficient) support guy. He checked the line and said all tests suggested everything was fine their end so it had something to do with my internal wiring.

Intended to do a check of all cables, phone and ethernet, but before I did I re-checked the speed and lo and behold it was as above.

Not sure what happened. Must have been the broadband fairies!

I'll probably get some new cables anyway in case it's a kink in one of them causing interference. Or maybe I'll just wait until next time it happens and check them all then.

The reason you are unable to test packet loss is because you need to install Java on your computer.http://www.java.com/en/

Your ping is better the lower it is.

On speedtest yours is 141ms compare this to my wired connection yours is almost 7 times slower that is why your gaming is full of lag.
