Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yesterday's "Capital D" (viewable online) showed their second commute race, this time a cyclist, driver and luas passenger from Tallaght to O'Connell Street.

Just like last time the cyclist was first in. This guy, who is a Dublin Bus driver, covered the 14km in 40mins. He was on a mountain bike, with big tyres. He was also knocked off his bike by a motorist en route, but was not hurt.

The Luas passenger got there in 50mins. The motorist (who was seen to nearly take out a motorbike) took 1hr 40mins!

Full commentary over on the Cycling forum.

Without getting into a public transport debate, but the girl who drove said she "needed the car" for work. One wonders how many motorists use this as a kop out and how many legitimatly need a car for work. An enjoyable show, nonetheless, fair play to Capital D for fresh TV every week.

What strikes me as somewhat worrying about this programme was how the Injured Bicyclist and what looked like a VERY lucky motorcyclist were not even referred to.

A large Part of the rapidly worsening general Road Safety situation in the Republic is recognized by many as manifest in the attitudes of Car Drivers towards Two Wheelers,be they Pedal of Motor driven/

There is no way on earth that a programme covering this type of topic should have ignored the Injury to the cyclist or the blasè attitude shown to what could well have been a very nasty collision with a Motorcyclist......

Do two wheelers count at all in this debate ...??

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Indeed. That woman driver's attitude to nearly killing a motorcyclist after a lane change with no blind spot check was disgusting. The biker RIGHTLY beeped at her to make sure the silly bint was aware of his presence, as she was clearly incapable of doing that herself.

The cyclist was far too forgiving to whoever knocked him off his bike and yes, the programme could have made much more of the two issues. I was actually a bit surprised that even our lack lustre tram to tallaght was beaten by a bike. That's as much a reflection on the shickingly long journey time as the benefits of cycling!

Why didn't they use a motorcycle in the test too? Because it would have won hands down maybe?
