Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Here's a challenging question for you. My friend's a computer genius, and even he hasn't got a clue.

I got a second-hand laptop (HP Omnibook XE3), with Windows XP installed. However, it originally had 2000, and XP wasn't installed properly. Now, whenever I turn it on, it tells me to activate Windows, I try to, says its already on, and doesn't let me into my account. And it repeats.

My mate says bring it into a shop, and get them to remove the XP programme. Anything else I can do?

On the assumption you dont have any important data on the laptop, just re-install xp and wipe the hard drive during the install.

Don't have the CD. It was installed before I got it.

    • Get the CD off the seller
    • Buy Windows
    • Install Linux

    Pick One:) Merry Christmas

Probably should have put this topic in the Virus and Malware section, shouldn't I?

Did a terrible job explaining the first time, I'll try again:

I turn on the laptop. It tells me to activate Windows (before I go into any user account). I do so. It says alls fine. I try to access user account. It tells me to activate Windows. I do so. It says alls fine. Logs me out to the 'choose a user account page'. Repeat steps 5-9.

your Windows XP installed is probably not a valid copy (pirated version).

    Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312295

If no go - look for new XP CD
