Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

looking at second hand cars and found one thats a 2009 but has 87k miles on the clock.. ill ask about what kind of miles they were (motorway or city etc)

would people be put off by this kind of mileage or would you be comfortable with it?

    thanks

Wouldn't put me off as long as the price is right. It's more than likely genuine milage. As always check the service history.

If your not doing massive milage, the milage on the car will average down as the years go on...

thanks.. was thinking 30k miles a year was a bit excessive but maybe not if the rest of the deal is ok..

its advertised as having full dealer service history.will take a look at it and if it ticks all the boxes will bring a mechanic down to look over it..

its due timebelt and water pump i imagine..

I would be more suspicious about 00-05 having such millage.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

What car is it? Some cars have one or more years manufacturers warranty left when they are 3 years old...

if its miles, its an import, so a HPI check or similar important.

I'd have no problem with it so long as the miles were long-trip miles and the price reflected things. If around-town-miles then there should be signs of all the increased cabin activity associated with that. If you don't know the difference then take along someone with you who would.

Are you sure it's miles? Seems strange to advertise a metric car with imperial units. It could be a typo

A lot of dealers still use mls. instead of kms. 60,000mls looks a lot more attractive than 100,000 kms.

I know that, but they may be doing the opposite. It doesn't make sense to advertise the higher number which puts it within a year of the "magic" 100k mls that some buyers fear.
