    Hi all

I have a group of students who are learning Biochemistry.

As a project, I have been asked to create an interactive learning suite
for them to use. I would prefer to use good open-source freeware, but
have a project budget of €200 in total.

I've had a cup of tea and a think, and have broken it into a few different
modules, I suppose you could call them. Any advice on on how to
create these kind of things would be greatly appreciated:

    1. - Multimedia Presentations, PowerPoint with bells and whistles kind of thing.

    2. - Point and click things for anatomic structures heart, eye etc.

    3. - Interactive lectures and Quizzes with scores.

    4. - Web based system with student management statistics and reports etc.

Does anyone know of programs that will help with this kind of thing?

Or maybe you've done work in the past for a similar educational project
    and can offer some advice.

    Thanks

    Barney.

I don't know anything about biochem, but I know a bit about the online learning courses on offer.
Try adapt something that a lot of work has already been put into.

Here's a biochemistry course that someone has already built:
    https://oli.cmu.edu/courses/free-open/biochemistry-course-details/

They've built rich interactive apps for people to practice with.

I doubt you would make a better course with a budget of 200 euro, which is hard to take seriously as a budget for anything like that.

Maybe work on trying to take material thats already out there and restructure it for your needs, or augment it?

Thats a huge amount of work, even if you have a good creation suite behind you, how was the budget of 200 reached? That seems like a bad joke!

Moodle is used by DCU and NUI Maynooth (and a few others as far as I know) and would do most of what you want out of the box.

Moodle is by far the best system.

Moodle is by far the best system.

What a sad state of affairs, however this statement is correct.

Does the job to be honest. Im in 2 colleges studying. Both use it and if used properly it works really well.

Newest system has reminders when assignments are due etc. which come in really handy but the lecturer has to use the functions properly.

Nice new upgrade recently that made a good difference.

That's hardly a vote of confidence though!

I'm following a course on www.edx.org, and find the presentation very good. It might be worth investigating how they set-up their site?

Check out learnupon, an Irish learning management systen (LMS).
