UK - Practising law?? Mandatory subjects

    Hello.
    What are the required mandatory law subjects required in a law degree to practise law as a solicitor/barrister in the UK?

    That's like asking how long is a piece of string. You need to go off and make enquiries in that Jurisdiction with the Bar Association and solicitors association.

    For practising as a solicitor, we were told in UCD that we needed to study:

    Public Law (Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, European Human Rights Law)
    EU Law
    Criminal Law
    Contract Law
    Tort
    Property Law (which must include Property Law of England and Wales)
    Equity and Trusts

    That should cover you for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, though not Scotland, which is a whole different story.
