Mission Statement (taken with thanks from monkeyfudge and BlitzKrieg's original charter):
This is a place for discussion of film from a filmmakers perspective (technical and artistic brilliance and failures) This includes discussions on current films and on new techniques.

This forum will allow people to pool skills and technology. If someone is trying to shoot a short film, but they really need an extra camera operator, or someone to help out on sound then they could post up a request. Some people might have access to great cameras, but they don't have a lighting kit or perhaps they have poor sound equipment. Also, if someone has a film they want to shoot and don't have a suitable location they can shoot in then maybe someone else in the forum might have access to a school, office or fast food restaurant. Also, if you are working on a film production, you can post a request asking for actors/actresses to play roles in your short films.

This will be a place to post case studies on successful applications for grants for short films. There will be lists of the technical and delivery requirements of the various festivals and TV channels. This will be a place to highlight the different film competitions that are around each year. And also a place for people to get feedback on their projects. But any thread that is film related but not to the filmmaking process will be moved to the films forum.

Also, while the discussion on editing at theory or practical level (ie. what is the best way to edit such a scene) are welcome here, any technical editing questions are best suited to the Audio-Video Editing Forum.

In order to keep the forum tidy, free from spam and open to discussion, the following rules must be followed:

    NO SHILLING YOUR WORK
If you have made or were involved in the production of a film which you want to promote then please use the Promote your film thread. Do NOT start a new thread. We will make exceptions for regular contributors to the forum who are looking for genuine feedback on their projects, but if you are a first time poster and start a new thread shilling your film we will treat it as spam and infractions/bans may be handed out.

DO NOT USE THE FORUM AS A NOTICEBOARD
If you are looking for cast and crew to work on your film you are welcome to post a request, but please use the Noticeboard thread. Do NOT start a new thread about it. New threads consisting of casting calls/crew recruitment notices will be treated as spam and infractions/bans may be handed out. Similarly threads consisting solely of general notices or announcements that are unlikely to provoke discussion may also be deleted.

    NO CROWD FUNDING LINKS
If you are making a film this forum can help you, but it will not be a place for you to spam your funding links. Put these links in your signature, send them to your friends via Twitter/Facebook, but please don't post them here. Threads containing such crowd funding links or requests for financing will be treated as spam and infractions/bans may be handed out.

In addition, the rules of the main Films forum as well as the usual Boards.ie rules also apply here. No spamming, no advertising, no trolling or general muppetry. Try to be friendly & courteous to each other and stay on topic.

If you have any questions, please send a PM to Sad Professor, johnny_ultimate or faceman.
