Very cool stats, so it looks like the 3-4-3 has worked out better for me and I'm surprised I haven't changed captain more.

Sanchez I can understand but ADM, Wellbeck and Pelle?

Hell yeah, I'd consider a wildcard to get them out of my team;)

It appears that this is shaping up to be quite a tough week, especially in defence. Plenty of yellow flags and some confirmed absences already, with other popular players facing difficult games.

It looks like this could be another week like GW8 in which having a decent bench could prove pivotal.

Yeah I think I've decided to take this opportunity to improve/sort out my bench. Need to do it anyway for the christmas. Will get rid of Moore, and bring in someone that plays and ideal has decent fixtures over the Christmas. Maybe Neil Taylor.

Have been busy with work and haven't checked in here in what seems like an age... probably 48hours :o

Was very happy with the Baines injury doubt a few days ago, then I log into my team and see my Seamie is also yellow flagged... bugger that.
I've done a quick search through all the threads but am none the wiser about my doubtful trio:

    Anyone got any info on
    Coleman
    Downing
    Welbeck

From what I see Coleman and Welbeck are probably ok but there's a little more doubt over Downing?

@elldubya1: @BenDinnery Sorry if you have already answered this. Have I got it correct: Baines - unlikely, cesc - yes, welbeck - probs, downing - no???
@BenDinnery: @elldubya1 Pretty much spot on mate

    And another exchange re Coleman:

@AdrianLRiley: @BenDinnery Thank you, one last bit of harassment from me ;) the following expected?
    Coleman- fit
    Fabregas- fit
    Baines- not
    Sakho- not
@BenDinnery: @AdrianLRiley Pretty much Adrian if you wanted a definitive on each player -- Baines & Coleman are slightly tarnished off-white grey areas

Curse and a blessing since I check it constantly now.

He just put up a tweet saying Sakho, Downing, and Valencia all out for tomorrow although he attributes it to @whustuff which don't have anything themselves

    Right.

    So Downing is out.
    Baines very doubtful.
    Fab OK.

What about Wilson (Stoke). He's now orange flagged with 25% chance of playing... I may have to make transfers this week. This is ruining my mid-term masterplan :(...

So you're implying Wilson is out :P? Burnley at home so would love if he played.

Yeah Isla is a player I highly rate but a fantasy player I still have doubts about... I guess playing for QPR doesn't help... But I was expecting him to get much more attacking returns (only 1 assist so far). I remember his Udinese years and he was such a threat going forward!

Well QPR are showing decent form and Isla has looked very good, of their defenders by far their best attacking threat from open play (Caulker obv a threat from set pieces), fixtures pretty kind right up to the new year as already pointed out

dunno re. Wilson playing tomorrow (or not) ! but regardless i reckon Isla is a decent bet for the next while

quick bit of research there discovered Isla assisted 2 of Chile's goals in their 5-0 victory against Venezuela just gone :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 932 ✭✭✭Markx

Regarding Wilson, Hughes says on the Stoke site that he is the one big doubt. Indicates that the availability of replacements means he may not be risked.

On MOTD it looked like a hamstring pull while running. Two weeks would be a very good recovery id say but PL players now can recover very quickly these days.

I'm surprised to see no sign of Hazard or Fabregas there...

very true... and tbh that squad doesnt look amazing in terms of coming weeks potential... things like Chambers one week monster mega-haul is just one of those things but obviously benefited a lot of managers up near the top

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

No thinking outside the box with that team apart from no Fabregas which is surprising given his high ownership.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

11 for me (I'm counting Betrand as he and Clyne have been so similar). Only differences are that I have Hazard, Austin, Wilson and Hamer.

I think many defences will change quite dramatically over the next few weeks.

No thinking outside the box with that team apart from no Fabregas which is surprising given his high ownership.

It just shows that a portion of the top 1,000 have swapped Fab to Haz so the ownership is split between the two. Surprised still that the three cheap mids feature so much.

    re. the January wildcard

Can someone clear this up for me? Its not making a lot of sense

"The January Wildcard can only be used after Gameweek 20 starts (1 Jan 11:30) until Gameweek 23 ends (1 Feb 11:30)"

Gameweek 23 fixtures run from (earliest) 31 Jan @12:45 until (latest) 1 Feb @16:00

    Somethings not adding up here

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,747 ✭✭✭Ziegler1988

It says 7th of Feb at 1130 for me on the site

I've been coasting for the last month or so really. 8k at the moment.

    LkAGEyr.jpg?1

That's what I have, Pelle is 7.9 having dropped last night.

So my backline has its issues and Tadic and Pelle too. It's remedied with a few hits and I can see things I might like to do but Costa is still annoying me.

Yeah I have Costa too but I'm tempted to ditch him for the festive period as soon as he gets that fifth yellow. I have Hazard too. My only Saint is Clyne, but in your position with 3, along with Colo and Moore, I think I'd have pulled that trigger already! Up to you, but be aware that you may haemmorage a lot of squad value by NOT playing it this week. Below is my squad for comparison:

    Guzan Gilks

    Clyne Baines Duff Moore Dummett

    Sanchez Hazard Siggy AdM King

    Rooney Costa Austin

    1.7 ITB, 1 F/T

Ticking along OK but a few things need sorting, my 2 Leicester duds have to go, need to get Kun back (probably for Costa), Clyne has been an absolute hero but I'm now considering ditching him for Isla this week, which would leave me enough funds to do a straight Costa->Kun swap next week if needs be. WC used of course!

    Shame you're £0.3m short to a combined Pellè + Tadic -> Austin + ADM.
You still could do it but for an 8 pts hit with downgrading Coloccini to Dummett (but be quick or be dead :P since Dummett is bound to rise tonight).

Very strong team bar no Aguero.

It actually took me a bit of time to wonder how you managed this team since I first read Aguero for Rooney :P.

d'you know that could be genius iroced. AdM and Austin could easily make up that 8pts this gameweek, as well as benefitiing team value, and Mr P gets to hold on to his WC for a "while" more :P:P:P:P:P:P:P

Tadic to ADM is probably impossible as a direct swap for many anyway. So considering the fixtures I'd say that ADM + Austin should outscore the Saints combo over the next 3 weeks. Of course the difference between "should" and "will" could be huge  :D.

Cheers manual_man. I hope if it's not genius it's at least a good move since it's one I'm probably going to do (not the exact same players to ditch though and did half of it already) since I need to do something to kickstart my season. I'm actually planning a big hit (-8 or -12 for at least the next 3 GWs and hope it'd pay off over that period). Sounds like an early gamble but I'm stagnating above the top 100k mark and I feel if I do nothing I'll just continue to stagnate there.

Lol yeh for sure. Same way captaining Aguero over Ings should give you more points! Its that or do Pelle>Austin & upgrade Cameron to Rangel or something boring like that.

It's the nature of the game a few educated gambles from time to time are needed to kick on in this. Of course looking more medium-term is important too, but even in this sense it would be hard to argue against said moves, i think most would agree that Austin+AdM are a good bet to outscore Tadic+Pelle between now and the new year anyway. re. Tadic i'm finding it hard to think of a Premier League player i like more at the moment, he's an absolute joy to watch, but in strict fpl terms he hasn't really done it yet (bar that one super gameweek, when almost no one had him!) - although he's a super player to have in Ultimate fpl, for anyone who's playing that.
