Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seagull S6 in Dublin? Thoughts on Guitar.

    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone owns this guitar? I until recently had a Takamine G Series EG523SC, beautiful Jumbo bodied guitar, but my playing style was moving much more in the direction of dreadnought sound so I moved it on.

I was looking at getting a Seagull S6, which seems to be highly recommended. Went in to Dublin to a well known stockist but they had stopped getting it in, so I dont know where else I could try one.

Basically what I'd like to know is

    A) Anywhere I could try it out in Dublin?

    B) Where is the best place to buy? (I saw them on Amazon.de for €475, which is cheapest I've seen this side of Atlantic new, but they're only $400 in the states... Guys selling them 2nd hand on Adverts are looking for €550+!!!

    C) What is your experience of this guitar? I heard it is great fingerstyle with the wide fretboard, but what's it like to strum on?

    D) I had borrowed a friend's Martin DCX1E (DX1 Cutaway) which sounded beautiful, but it seemed kind of weak and slightly lacking in the treble range, I still really loved the sound (and the volume!). Which would you prefer? This or the S6.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, any input is welcome.

I'd say it's the first time around here that anyone has made that comment.

Seagull guitars are generally very well made instruments. Great value for the money. As are all Godin guitars. Made in Canada form quality woods with good parts. I had an SWS at one stage. It was lovely, only sold it because I needed the money at the time. Some people aren't a fan of the headstock....but if that doesn't bother you, they're definitely worth checking out.
