Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think if they test positive for an STI they have to stop working, therefore reducing the risk of spreading it. If you know you have something you can get it treated; if its treatable that it. It's still better than not getting tested.
Of course it's vital to be tested regularly if a porn performer, but in addition to using condoms.
The way regular testing is spoken of as if it's a preventative measure in the absence of condoms is what I'm referring to. It prevents nothing, it only confirms bad news when it's too late. And as you say, stopping those who contract a STI from working does reduce the spread but doesn't eliminate it - could be enough of a window between when they contracted it and when they tested positive for it for significant damage to be done... And, as you also say, there is the worst-case scenario of contracting a STI that is not curable.
Im hoping she was taking the piss about that.
    Not sure why.

Hmm, I don't think an actor has contracted an STI in the porn business for around eight years. So they must be doing something right.

And I'd imagine a condom would rub the man and woman raw after a few hours of shooting.

Was there not a big scandal last year of some famous porn star who was HIV positive?

Holograms, motion control and interactivity may be the way.

Also, google glass porn looks interesting:

It's a commonly branded number in articles, people against condoms in pornography, and from the blogs of porn stars themselves. I could give a link, but wikipedia is the only one I can think of for the moment.

Apparently, it was received off the set and was stopped before anybody else caught it.

I actually read Ron Jeremy's autobiography, and interestingly, he has slept with over 3000 women and has never once contracted an STI. He has some weird post sex ritual thing where he slaps he willy vigorously after he has sex. :D

That been said I would really doubt if no porn stars have contracted an STI in the last eight years. It just doesn't seem possible.

More than likely, seen as how some STI's have no symptoms.

    Watery sh1t porn. Interesting concept
The Germans would love that. The dirty feckers.

The OP is a little out with his bush timings though. They were definitely not full blown in the early 90s, the landing strip was popular then. Full bush was the 70s. And there was all sorts of shenanigans going on in the 70s and 80s too. One of the biggest franchises was the Taboo films which were about incest.

HIV IS an STI GG, but here's a more interesting one- with the rise in popularity of amateur pornography, they don't follow all those checks that the adult entertainment industry has in place to protect it's performers, so as FF said- there's not much use in STI certs after contracting one.

Very, very true. Although, that eigth years thing was United States studio pornography.

I do have a bit of a problem with amateur porn. People's critiques of mainstreams has pushed people towards amateur. And there isn't any way to tell what's going on behind the scenes in amateur porn. It is a bit worrying with the amount of criminal gangs out there...

GG you don't have to go back eight years, try eight hours ago -
(Reuters) - Adult film sets throughout the Los Angeles area have shut down indefinitely after a porn actress tested positive for HIV, the trade association for the industry said on Thursday.

The actress, who works under the name Cameron Bay, has contracted the virus that causes AIDS, the Free Speech Coalition said in a press release.
The trade group said film producers called a moratorium on production late on Wednesday and that filming would not resume until all of Bay's partners are notified and tested.

    Source: Reuters.

And plenty more examples before that -

In December 2010, the HIV positive performer was identified as Derrick Burts. Burts has worked in straight and gay pornography. Despite contracting gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis Burts continued taking part in unprotected sex in heterosexual, but condom only homosexual films before quitting once he was diagnosed as being HIV positive. He was informed by the Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation that he had contracted the disease, which according to Burts, he received on set while having oral sex scene with another "HIV positive male actor".

    Source: Wikipedia.

Thrush is not an STI but it is quite common among adult performers, and you just don't hear so much in the media about treatable STIs like chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea because they don't grab headlines like an HIV scandal.

When I made reference to amateur pornography though, I was more referring to the home made stuff, you'd be surprised (well, maybe you wouldn't! :D) to see how far some people will go for bitcoins (virtual currency).

There will be electronic porn buddies that you can make appear by tapping your iPhone/iPod or equivalent.

Due to this divorce rates will quadruple and many relationships will dissolve. Women will become tired of their partners new 'hobby' and then jump in on the action as the male equivalent porn buddy goes on sale.

Hopefully there'll be more contraception used. A lot of the bareback stuff nowadays is sending out the wrong message to the youngsters.

I know, letting youngsters watch a good porn movie where contraception is used is great for sending out the right message. Show them in playschool I say.

[they have found an internet documentary about the garbage ball]

Fry: Wow. In my day, the internet was only used to download porn.

Leela: Actually, that's still the case.

Scientist #1: Now that the garbage is gone, doctor, perhaps you could help me with my sexual inhibitions.

    Scientist #2: With gusto.

Hmmm, I don't think you can do anything to eroticize condom usage. It's still a bit awkward and a loss of sensation :P

    EDIT:
When I made reference to amateur pornography though, I was more referring to the home made stuff, you'd be surprised (well, maybe you wouldn't! ) to see how far some people will go for bitcoins (virtual currency).

I'm sure money from advertising and traffic would help. And, in my opinion, watching amateur pornography is like playing Russian roulette.

    Sooner or later...

    Something's going to explode.

Porn has changed quite a bit in the last 20 years. Back in the early 90s it was all VHS tapes, soft focus, cheesy storylines and full pubic hair. The general trend is that porn has become more extreme as the years have gone by with less and less being taboo. Gangbangs used to be rare. Bukkake movies didnt really exist before the late 90s. With this in mind what do you think porn will be like 20 years in the future?
Porn probably hasn't changed all that much. I don't think this generation invented gangbangs or bukkake, I'd say we'll never be quiet as depraved as the Romans were given the advent of human rights.

The technology will improve vastly over the coming decade but I think peoples tastes won't change all that much and may even become more traditional. I don't care what trends happen nothing is ever going near my asshole and that will never change.

At the moment all media is desperately trying to find new things to entertain and amaze, eventually I think the general population will get bored of gimmicky fads, in another generation all these things we think are new and taboo will be overused and old hat to people. Once the novelty of these things wears off there's no substance to keep the majority of people interested.
