Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have searched this forum for info. on this question but have not found anything.

What I am wondering is what happens if an Irish citizen resident here but with a UK licence is disqualified from driving for some offence.
Not sure if the licence is taken for duration of ban or if licence details are taken and entered into gardai data base.
Not sure if Gardai would be able tol take a foreign licence but taking down licence details would seem sufficient.
If convicted person was found to be driving then gardai could find this info. on dtat base quickly.

    Views and opinions appreciated.

If you're disqualified from driving, you are disqualified from driving, regardless of whether you hold an irish/uk/polish licence or even if you hold no licence at all.

A check of a name and date of birth on pulse would reveal the ban.

Because there would never be two Mary Murphys born on the same date in Ireland.......
    'tis foolproof!

That is why a third element is brought in, There usually isn't two Mary Murphy's born on the same date, living at the same address in Ireland, with identical cars and identical registration plates registered to their name. Who also have a disqualification linked to the car and the name on pulse.

Dermot above mentioned only name and date of birth. If the license holder didn't own a car how does this come into the equation?

Or if the incidents occurred with two cars registered at 2 or more addresses?

I know someone who was disqualified from driving here on a UK licence(irish resident), the licence was handed in to the court clerk and it was sent to Dublin, who reissued it when they received notice from the court. The licence is issued to the address given on the summons. Endorsements were applied. The office in dublin deals with foreign licences, i think it's part of dublin city council but couldnt be 100% certain.
