Pissarrachampsa, new land croc from the Cretaceous

Seems that Kaprosuchus has some competition. Pissarrachampsa was found in Brazil, it had huge canine-like teeth and a short snout, and long legs that allowed it to run after prey- including dinosaurs up to six meters long, say scientists.



Pissarrachampsa was a member of the Baurisuchidae, a family of land dwelling predatory crocs that thrieved during the Cretaceous in the southern continents and had ziphodont teeth, stereoscopic vision and probably fed mostly on dinosaurs, the most common kind of large prey at the time.
