Shame to be loosing Eamon's Meats, always great quality and would hold cuts or prepare it for you if asked to do so.
Unfortunately crossing the bridge at certain times of the day would have me looking closer to home, but fortunately Cosgrove's ain't a bad meat & fish counter.
If the move is true rather than closure than best of luck with the venture.

There's no sign of them to tell that to people on their Facebook page!

Ya a pity, they had some nice grub in there. There's a To Let sign in window now. Bring back Burger King :D

It seems that Maud's in Johnston's Court has gone, it only opened a few months ago and after they fitted a fancy new counter too, the previous shops that were in that spot went fairly suddenly too.

Looks like Builders have moved in to Tom Tailor. Anyone know what might be going in there?

Boots are taking it along with the old Eurogiant store. Due to open around the second week of December I believe.

    Mothercare set to close soon.

Are there more shops closing than are opening? My perception was that people had slowly started to spend money again and businesses were starting to recover. If more shops are closing, what would the main reason for it be? There is not exactly any competition from any other larger towns nearby.

    Is this true?

I heard a rumour h&m was (finally) coming and was wondering would they take tom tailor?

Not an M&S? Boots will do then.

  • Registered Users Posts: 421 ✭✭tomhenryford

H&M will never come to Sligo, sure they're not even in Galway.

That's fair enough. But I know the one here hasn't been trading well and it was mentioned by staff working there. Though I also know Mr Ward has a good lease agreement with the property so it might stay.

Not a surprise really, never seen anyone in there. Only in once myself, way too expensive!

You must have been in a different shop than me then so.
Was a regular customer there for years (more so when it was Aware just around the corner though).
Ran by two great local guys. Really disappointed to see it closed.

Yes The Book Mart, and it's great, go there all the time! Lots of variety & a lovely little shop :)

I'd be bereft if it closed!
