Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi There,

I'm new so the forum, and i'm a genealogy researcher.

I'm hoping if someone out there please can help me with information on the above regiment, as i can't find no further information on the regiment, did they change name.

On my 2xgrandfathers John Michael Flanagan birth certificate in 1859 Hurst Hordle, Hordle, Hampshire, England, stating my 3xgrandfather's William Flanagan occupation: Colour Sergeant with Tipperary Artillery.

I have small information on the timeframe, around March 1860 the regiment came to the area of Gosport in Hampshire then Sheerness in Kent, then in March 1861 returned to Clonmel.

On the 13th September 1862 theres a report of a violent attack on Sergeant Flanagan(my 3xgrandfather) of the staff of the South Tipperary Artillery Regiment of Militia.
He was hit hard in the face with a stone by a man who stole his watch, outside the ordnance barrack gate in Barrack Street, Clonmel, his injuries were life threatening, he must of lived.

I found my William Flanagan on the 1877 Waterford Street Directory.

Any reply will be very much appreciated!

    Kind Regards
    Gary;)
