Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, anybody know the most likely place a stolen bike might end up? Bike nicked yesterday on O'Connell St, Dublin. From all accounts bike not likely to remain near where it was stolen for more than a week.

I won't name it here. I'm sure a google search along the lines go 'stolen bikes market Dublin' would be of interest to you though.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It hasn't appeared on donedeal, adverts or gumtree. I have irrefutable proof of ownership.
Cops and Halfords have both been very sound. Bike is insured but some staff more clued in than others.
I am going to start a campaign to get the websites to force sellers to list serial numbers. Might be a drop in the ocean, but every little helps.

That's an interesting idea. You should get on to your local TD about it.

If you ask for this thread to be moved to the Cycling forum, you may get further input on where to look for your bike.

I will copy it over later. I think the idea is of interest and on topic for both forums.

    Copied to Cycling.

    The Cycling charter now applies.

Sorry but we do not allow speculation on what shops, markets etc. are selling stolen goods, so I'm locking the thread.

EDIT: I'm re-opening for the purposes of discussion of listing serial numbers on classified sites, but the above still applies :)

Fair enough re naming places that might sell stolen bikes. Nobody wants to get sued for defamation.

As regards the serial numbers idea, I know a few tds quite well. However this is the kind of thing where people shouldn't rely on their tds. If tds want to help, great. The only problem is I wouldn't like a campaign about reducing stolen bikes to be hijacked for political purposes.

Fair point. The serial number idea is a good one. Okay its not going to stop it but it adds another layer of admin and means an additional bit of workfor them before they can sell a stolen bike.
