    Hi guys,

just had a couple of days off and thanks to a cold spent them in bed, so I had some time on my hand and watched the old TV. Turns out Paramount Comedy seems to be censoring a hell of a lot of words out of their shows! I was watching Becker and things like 'ass' for example went and instead there was silence. Also, in Friends Phoebe was saying something about being a '...' which i think should have been hooker or whore. Same with other shows. Cant quite remember at what time it was, but have they always done that and I only just noticed?

In the US you cant use words like that.. Here on the radio and TV you can say anything you want after 9pm.. not so in the US.. much more conservative there... So its probably how they get them.

used to watch some shows on Paramount but havent bothered since they have censored shows

the whole thing about shows in the usa is that yes they arent allowed say much but that doesnt excuse Paramount as uncensored versions are available and it is probably their own self censorship anyway

I've seen a lot of censorship on paramount, and it is usually words like ass, slut, whore, nipple and crap (sorry atrocity)...I think I have seen the friends part being censord on E4 too, but i think it was a bit risque...like poo.

No its one of the most conservative! There are however over 300 million there and its the most powerful and diverse country in the world so you hear about it more than any other country.

    S'funny...

my missus was watching Paramount Comedy 1's Sex and the City Marathon last night and there were plenty of uncensored swear words in that, particularly the repeated use of the word "fúcking" - oh and of course a good few actual sex scenes.

    *shrug*

    Its both.
Highest level of (self)censorship, 'christian values', 'family values' and work ethics etc while at the same time the worlds largest consumer of pornography, prostitution and narcotics.

Its like the difference between your job description and your actual job.

What you meant to say was YOU were watching it! :D

Well they do have a quite a few uncensored shows, and stuff like SexyCam and Badly Dubbed Porn. So maybe it's just daytime stuff?

No, I was upstairs. On IRC, I believe.

Sexy Cam... god... one of the worst things on television.

Maybe it is just the pre-watershed stuff though. I don't watch Paramount much before 9pm...
