Well we have a government that has access to all the facts, the best expert opinion from a multitude of sources.

Or two economists who may have their own agenda.

The Euro won't collapse, it is simply to big to fail. We will have Bretton Woods 2 before governments let commerce fail. Currency and economies are entirely man made constructs, they follow rules set out by people. So if the rules don't work, change them. Thats what will happen in the long term.

Kellys article isn't that scary. He suggests a solution. Wipe out the banks debt. That is not, or wasn't originally, sovereign debt so it shouldn't affect our credit rating. If banks won't loan to our new banks the ECB will.

    Good idea. Do it.

Its true enough that a number off over sea's investment houses plot against poor old Ireland, but as high stakes gambling go its not a odd thing to happen. More interest well be paid to the 'ISEQ' and the '20' to see if they well go down another 25% or so by end off year.

Now who do you believe, the government or two separate independent economists both preaching the same song?

    Economists are like astrologers.
If there is no run on the banks people will conveniently forget what Kelly and McWilliams predicted that didnt happen.

The problem was that during the boom, they ignored all the advice, particularly that of the EU Commission.

In post-boom Ireland expert opinion is more divided, this time the government have the commission on-side though.
