Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, Lidl have this inverter coming up. I'm always finding a need for power tools at the allotment but don't want to invest in a generator.
Do you think this could be the answer? Any reason why it would be bad to run a power saw or power washer say off the car?

Thanks a lot for any advice.

300W won't be enough to run a power washer or power saw.

That inverter is for the likes of charging a laptop, powering a small tv etc. I wouldn't try to run any power tools off a car battery.

Buy one of the Parkside/Lidl petrol power generators when they come up for sale next.

Around 200-210 euro, and good enough for using power tools like chop saws or sabre saws on an alotment.:)

Good advice (as usual) from Paddy!
Any cheap inverter is dear! They destroy chargers and are only good for short-term use of something like a light.

Pity, thanks lads. A generator is too much dosh for what I need.
So if I had the engine running would it definitely not run this for short bursts ...

Theres also 1 or 2 of those left in Lidl Artane.

Plugs into lighter socket and has a mains/3 pin plug at the other end.

    Its only 150w though.

Thanks. Yeah I know, I meant the first one I linked to is a heavier one than that one, it's 300 watt. On average would just be quick 5 minute jobs.

If you were to do it,then Id be leaving the car on and running.

I personally wouldnt do it though.

    It won't work.
Buy a good handsaw and use that.

If you have lots of 5 minute jobs to do on the allotment and can get them done in a day or over a weekend, then why not hire out a small generator from a builders providers.

Probably be about 40-45 euro for the day.

Hire it out on a Friday, and you get to keep it all weekend long.
But you only pay for the Friday.

Dont know if that would suit you??
