Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I'm trying to find a Tortoise-shell pickguard for a Fender Jaguar bass (MIJ) but without much success.
Tried most of the guitar stores here in Dublin but no joy.
If anyone might be able to recommend a store elsewhere in the country who might have such a thing, I'd really appreciate it.
    Many Thanks

If you can't find one in an Irish shop, WD Music in the US make them.

the only problem is their shipping is very expensive.

But you can order them through their UK arm (http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/), even though they don't list them on their site, and the shipping is a lot cheaper. I assume they do bulk shipments from the US to the UK, and then they send it out to you.

For reference, here's WD's red tort on my Fender Marauder (they do two other tort styles too).

    main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=3311

    The fit was spot on.

    Thanks Phutyle, that's great info.
That shipping cost from USA was the main thing that was putting me off ordering online. It almost doubles the cost of the pickguard in some cases !
Will contact WD in the UK.
The Marauder looks brilliant by the way.

Hard to tell from the photo but it doesn't exactly look like a classic tortoiseshell in my eyes. It doesn't have the range of colours.

Mine is red tort, and it doesn't have the creams and yellows that regular classic tort has.

They (WD) do that too, though:

This guy (hand) makes the very best tort in various styles, but it's quite expensive:

Alas, he doesn't do Jag basses or Marauders (or Bass VIs, I'd love one of his on mine).
