Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

sewer pipe responsibility

    Hey all,
    Just wondering where does my responsibility for my sewer end, it appears to be blocked a good five meters outside the boundary of my property and well under the road.any help greatly appreciated

    Some rules differ slightly from council to council but generally speaking you are responsible for your pipe regardless of whose ground it runs under until it reaches the main sewer pipe.

    Dublin City centre. Pipe runs under a fairly busy street that has been repeatedly dug up over the last few months for luas , upon inspection we discovered that the pipe is now half filled with concrete fibe meter s under the road.rpa contractors are denying all knowledge and accusing me of wanting my drains fixed for free, a delightful bunch.just wondering what the next step might be

    I was told by the council when a sewer pipe was blocked that as it was under private ground it was not their responsibility.
    They said if it was a few meters away, it'd have been theirs.
    Somehow I think if it was not under private ground a few meters away, they would have come up with another excuse.

    Operate on the basis that its their responsibility, its a sewer main and take it from there.

    Complicated, but it probably ends where your (private) drain joins the public sewer.

    How did this cement get in there do you think? Do you think it was pushed up the drain when the sewer was open?

    Does your drain go into the main sewer high up or low down?

    Did you get a camera survey done? Do you have a sample of this material? Is is definitely new? Are you certain there hasn't been any building work done upstream?

    If you have the survey done and have a sample of the material, I would talk to the city drainage department. They will have practical knowledge of dealing with the RPA contractors. If you are nice to them, they will help you if they can.
