Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I blocked up the fireplace when i moved into my house a few years back and at the time removed the back boiler (it had been disconnected by the pervious owner). Im now installing a new open fire and was considering putting a back boiler in again and have a couple of questions:
    • Can it be used to suppliment the oil heating?
    • Does it make the central heating less efficient when the fire isnt lit

Theoretically yes, it can be used to suppliment the heating.

If you have a non-return valve on the back boiler then the central heating wont be impacted by it, if you dont then the back boiler will be heated like a rad from the central heating.

If the budget allows, you'd be much better off investing in a boiler stove as opposed an open fire.. Worth considering now..

Yeah, considered the boiler stove option but just don't like the look of them. Will the fact that the back boiler is now gone have any impact on the new fire??
