I absolutely hate what FF has done to this country. They behaved like terrorists. They are a toxic party. They fcuked up. The way they handled the country during the past 14 years. The way they handled bust too for the past two and half years - they are god damn awful. Bertie heard the word recession and ran. FF has exploited us to save anglo and developers.

I had pretty much decided how I was go to vote, everyone but FF. Im losing my mind now because I would rather vote FF than FG. Enda Kenny whoring around as if he is taoiseach. The thought of him as our new overlord.

Post doesn't make sense.

Martin is "whoring around" as if he had just arrived in Dáil Eireann, and not as someone who was part of the corrupt party that screwed us.

So they cancel each other out in the personality stakes.

FG, however, haven't done what you said in your post.

Vote Independent or Labour - they might even be better options than FG given some recent announcements - but for God's sake don't vote FF!

Fine Gael is promising way too much, even more than Ahern in 2007 (which is some achievement). Wait till we have all these people giving out after the election about their being "duped" into voting for Fine Gael. :rolleyes:

Let me be the first to say it: the impending Fine Gael government is engaging in an electoral campaign with promises on a par with Fianna Fáil's in 1977. People are consciously going to vote for them despite knowing that this state cannot afford policies such as bailing out misguided gamblers who bought houses at the height of the boom. At best, much more needy areas of our society will suffer if Fine Gael fulfils bribes such as this one to the Irish electorate. So much for Fine Gael's catch-cry of "ethics in government".

Whoever you vote for, make sure it's somebody who will hold Fine Gael to account for this most dishonest of campaigns. They need to be watched like hawks. Their expenses, their actions, the details of legislation they enact, their appointments to state boards, to whom they are awarding contracts - all of it must be examined.

After over 13 years out of political power, Fine Gael has a lot of political debts to pay. They did not receive over €2.25 million in donations for nothing, and Leo Varadkar's refusal to name those who attended a Fine Gael fundraiser last week is a taste of things to come.

I'm the same, i'd have no problem voting FG, but I don't want to see Enda as the captain of the ship. I think Gerry comes across as a more likable genuine guy and that's why I think i'm going to give SF my number 1. I just don't see any alternative for real change in a leader. I know Gerry won't be running the country but I still want to see Gerry in opposition.

I think this election for a lot of people is about voting for the best of a bad lot. The fact that the signals from FF suggests that even they don't want to be in government is a good reason not to vote for them. John Bruton was seen as the weak link for FG before they got into government. A lot of people would now say he was a good Taoiseach. And btw, I'm no Enda fan.

Gerry who ? Likeable & genuine adjectives rule out Adams, so who are you on about ?

FG and SF have completely different policies. Plus Gerry Adams is anything but genuine. He still denies he was a member of the IRA.

I can't bring myself to vote FG this time round, even for strategic ABFF reasons.

FG councillors all over the country happily participated in the orgy of unsustainable and irrational rezonings during the Celtic Casino years.

FF & FG = Tweedledum & Tweedledee.

I think he's starting to come across very well, He's done a lot for a united Ireland and I reckon he still has more to do, i've respect for him for that.

If he denies he was a member of the IRA well them you might just have to believe him, much like Berties win on the Horses. I believe he has very close links to the IRA but he may not have been a member.

Wow! Anybody who is in denial about Fine Gael being cut from the same cultural/political cloth as Fianna Fáil should read that link. With time, it seems that when the history of the "boom" is written Fine Gael (and Sinn Féin and Progressive Democrats, as is the case here) collusion will be acknowledged. In fact, in Laois Fine Gael led it and it was a Fianna Fáil minister for the environment, Dick Roche, who intervened to stop Fine Gael making County Laois a massive developer-led building site. Credit where credit is due.

Once again: giving Fine Gael (or any party) an overall majority is lunacy of the most blinkered kind. None of these political parties can be trusted. It's a myth that Fianna Fáil is uniquely corrupt - rather, Fianna Fáil has been in power for so long it has had more opportunities to be corrupt. Fine Gael's power needs to be balanced and watched. They need to be kept on their toes and brought down when they betray our trust.

I never believed Bertie and no matter which way you look at it, Sinn Fein members still refuse to condemn the murdering of innocent civilians. In fact they collect the murderers from prison. How could you vote for a party like that?

Because I don't trust the rest of them. Plenty of horrible things happened to Irish citizens under the watch of FF & FG. There far from innocent.

Bad things happened it in the past on both sides but I think the SF we have now can help pull this country together peacefully.

Gerry is coming across as genuine. You know exactly what he's real intention is and that's something I want to see in my lifetime.

Spot on. There's a well-established rule of thumb here: follow the money.

The Other Tribe is about to get its hands on the levers of power, and may have them there for some time. If FG TDS in national government are anything like their Councillors in local government, then I am not overly hopeful about a major change in our political culture. That said, I do recall a good FG-Labour coalition quite a long ime ago in the last millennium...

You'd have no problem voting FG and no problem voting sf???

Do you even know what you are voting for at all?
Do you read policies? understand maths?

Our choosing of 'personalities' led us to Bertie and his ilk, haven't we learned anything.

I have figured who im going to give my first 3 prefences to - labour and independants. Its going to break my heart giving FG votes after my first 3 but i will to keep FF out.
