Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

you're right, just pointing out that maybe Diarra isn't so stupid for leaving. Glen Johnson left Chelsea and got his England place back, OK he could have warmed the bench in the CL this year, but he is playing regular football and got a medal for his labours.

Johnson was there, what 3 years? Diarra not much longer than 4 or 5 months... the situations are incomparable really. Even Evra struggled to make the United team when he first arrived, now look at him, probably the best in the world at his position. to do what Diarra did was folly tbh. he also displayed an arrogance that will probably damage his prospects for the next few years. why would someone at a bigger club go near him if he's not willing to compete for his starting place like everyone else? more than a few managers will have been turned off by the petulant statements he's made over the past 6 months or so...

Maybe leaving one of the "Big Four" isn't the end of the world as many seem to think. Maybe Diarra wanted out and was attracted to regular first team football and a progressive club like Pompey, who knows.

    Anyway, back to Aaron Ramsey.....
Sure, I agree, although we’re getting off topic. I meant it isn’t necessarily a bad idea for a young player to go to one of the big four either (or Arsenal at least), which is what was being insinuated with the Diarra example.

Regarding Ramsey, the word is that the deal will be announced by Arsenal before the end of the week... although we've heard that before. The word seems to be that he's more of a central midfielder than an attacking midfielder or a wide player. I look forward to seeing more of him.

don't forget his statement at the press conference that is only at Pompey until a bigger club comes in for him. First transfer request to be handed in at a signing on conference!!:D

My point is that there is life outside the big four. OK most players want CL football, but most want regular football as well. James, Campbell, Defoe, Diarra, Johnson all left "Bigger" clubs and have benefitted from it. I'm hoping Sean Wright Phillips ralises that as well.

Still, if Diarra's petulance means he stays at Pompey then great, he is playing well and Arsenal's loss is our gain.
