Are you using a signal meter?

You can buy them in Maplin. I have one and have failed to find a satellite with it. I find that the built in signal meter in the box is better.

    Have a look here: http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/selfsat.htm

Here's a cheap option to help you out....

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/SATELLITE-BEEPER-SAT-SIGNAL-FINDER-SATFINDER-WITH-EARPIECE-/310624444599?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item4852a8e0b7

Connect it along the line between the sat dish and the sat box - although you'll probably need to have it connected near to where you're adjusting the sat dish, as you're listening to the audio tone as you adjust the dish.

I use one myself, and find its great to get you pointing in the right direction - the closer you get, the higher the pitch of the beep in your ear.
Now, I must also say that my sat box has a signal meter on it too, so as I'm adjusting the dish I can see the signal strength going up and down - so that's also part of my process. I'm not sure if your sat box can display this too

......and I'm sure you're aware of this already, but alot of time can be saved by either paying attention to what direction other campers are pointing their dishes, or using a compass (or general sense of direction). If you've no idea which direction South East is, you'll be spending ages going round and round in circles.

There are various smartphone apps which will show you where to point the dish for different satellites.
Most work by showing a map, you just drag the lollipop to where you are and they display a line showing the direction to point the dish, they also give the elevation .

    Just Google dishpointer phone app
