Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ever think politicians really know nothing about todays technology ?

    They way you hear them talking about upskilling for the knowledge economy [another PR buzzword] & they're so wishy washy on the details.
    They always seem to mix up wireless & Wifi.
    Their mad to build digital hubs with no real plan who it will attract or why it's worth it.
    Broadband, they can't get enough of it, it's magic & it brings jobs.
    Their delighted now cause they've the new phrase Pharma as a catch all for that equally mind boggling industry.

    Once you move away from the 3 old staples of farming, building & pubs many politicians really seem to be out of their depth.
    Are there any scientists or engineers in Dail Eireann or is it still the haunt of teachers & lawyers ?.

    they know nothing about nothing outside of the dail. they are so out of touch with anything its not funny.

    I remember a certain finance minister saying that emigration was a lifestyle choice. 2 of his kids, 1 of which i know has left to work abroad cause they work in construction. holy crap

    Those with brains keep away from the building, those without are found within (the inner bar!).
    Teachers and solicitors - O' and those involved in the drink/food/leisure industry.

    The wishy washy economy is of course also of great importance to us here in Dáil Eireann.

    Digital Hubs will attract the e-commerce via fiberband broadwaves. This is good for jobs.

    They are politicians, they don't know anything much more outside of what:
    a. They are told by their well paid advisors
    b. They need to get re-elected.

    When it comes to technology they are pretty much clueless.

    Pearse Doherty from Donegal trained in civil engineering

    Paschal Donohoe in Dublin had a senior job in Procter & Gamble and quit it to enter politics and then lost at his first Dail election. Got in the next time.

    Alan Kelly in Tipp studied in Boston and worked in ecommerce

    It's not all old 50 and 60 year old people in the Dail.

    The young crew have different experience
