Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am looking for a supply of used copper cylinders for various pieces of art. Do plumbers usually hoard these and bring them to the metal recyclers in bulk? or do they leave them with the householder to dispose of.

    Thanks for reply.

I'll try but I'd imagine if they pay you €40 they will charge me €60. Will have to see if I can get in contact with a few plumbers.

    I don't get your 10 valuation, surely at 4 per kg a 10 kg tank = 4 x 10 =€40

@ 10 the tank would have to weigh only 2.5kgs.

It depends on cylinder size obviously. An empty 30gal cyl is as light As a feather in my opinion. I never actually weighed one but I know I never got anywhere near 40 for any cylinder size

Standard 30 gallon is about 11kgs, maybe you should go to a new scrap dealer.

I'm not doubting you but 11kg?? That's nearly 2 stone. I can lift an empty 30 gal with my little finger. I'd honestly be shocked if it was 11 kilo

As far as I know a cylinder is bought at scrapyard for about €45

Cheers, that sounds about right for the old 30 gallon which are slightly thicker afaik. I'm sure they would want at least a 50% mark up to resell to public.

That's the thing about weights and measures, you don't need to go on opinion anymore, theyre quite precise. :-) €35-45 is about right.
