Announced last week - UPC is to extend its Fibre Power 240 Mbps service with Horizon TV to the towns of Ashbourne, Donabate, Lusk and Ratoath in south county Meath and north county Dublin.

New digital services will now be switched on in Donabate on 6th May, followed by Ratoath (12th May), Ashbourne (19th May) and Lusk (26th May).

Rush would hardly be included in Lusk id say?

Are these brand new cable builds, headend replacements from old NTL stuff/MMDS or a bit of both?

Also knowing UPC, it will be just like "broadband enabling" Balbriggan, when it's only the minority of the town.

Replacing MMDS fed DVBC headends from the NTL era.

They are however extending wiring slightly in some towns these days so it may creep further out. Maynooth had it's worst black hole of analogue only fixed in December 2013

In the case of Maynooth, that sounds like an existing network that was replaced and backends replaced/added. Is there anything to say that somewhat modern estates with no existing cable, in towns with UPC cable, will get cable by the time MMDS is shut off? I'm thinking of various parts of Ashbourne and Balbriggan for instance. The UPC statement doesn't claim that 100% of the towns involved are now served by UPC.
