Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hope the mods don't mind, it's a dash cam video.

Dim driver driving without lights on a dark morning, it was only the lights of the car following that made him visible.

I'm curious on what I should have done differently.
    Change lane earlier ?

To Mod: should we start another thread for the comments ?

This thread is for dashcam videos only. Not chat. I have cleaned up posts without videos.

A bit hard to see from the video, best to watch in at least 720p and full screen.
Watch the wine coloured Mercedes that goes by in the left lane.
It switches to the right lane to undertake a few cars and then when it catches up with another car in that lane it uses the hard shoulder to undertake.
It then gets stcuk and the driver seems to be on both brake and throttle permanently before diving into the left lane again, cutting up another car and causing it to come hard on the brakes.
Would have liked to be closer, but couldn't match the Mercedes’ acceleration :)

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Saw this tulip today totally disregarding any rules at a roundabout.
The car in front of him is as guilty as he is, but at least he had some sort of gap to go for, the guy in the white Auris, had no gap.

The Audi driver was pretty pi$$ed off, and thy remonstrated with each other for a while.
After I passed them, I saw the Audi driver almost cause a crash while he was waving his hands out the window while alongside the Auris.

Poor lane discipline going through a junction,

Reason I went for the undertake was the guy was slowing down coming up to a set of green lights, as evidenced by the fact the bus was pulling away from him.

Traffic lights are faulty, countdown to zero and then flash "--", cars in front drive on however as I get to the pedestrian crossing I can see the left/right lights are still green so stop, black van turning left obviously sees me and sounds his horn, nowhere I can go as car directly behind me, sound my horn as it's obvious he won't make the turn without hitting me however he accelerates presumably due to the oncoming car and clips my bumper. Assume he must have felt it and also assume the damage to his car must be more substantial than mine however he didn't stop. I got out and checked the damage and hung around for a few minutes however he didn't return and I didn't get his number. Chalk it up to experience.

Idiots like this really annoy me.

Had he waited about 100 metres, he could have safely/legally changed lane.

He also had plenty of time before the lanes were split with the hatchings to move into the lane he wanted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,725 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

2 catches today within the space of 5 minutes,

First one was on East Wall Road, driving along and the taxi driver just pulls out into my lane, causing me to swerve around him! There was a Garda traffic car behind me who didn't really seem interested.

Second one is a young guy in a Fiat Punto (with L plates) failing to stop at a set of lights turning red, he had plenty of time to stop on amber, but just didn't seem interested in stopping.

Taking the second exit on a roundabout, I'm in inside lane. BMW zooms around roundabout in outside lane, half passes me, has to slow as car in front stops to let black car past. I continue as my lane is clear, then he beeps at me as there's no room for him to cut in. Comes in behind and starts giving me hand gestures etc. I believe I have right of way, am open to correction though.....

Overtaking coming into bend: Not overly bad, silly, but not the worst. I was going slow enough however (About 70kmh). It was closer than it looked too.

Obeying 1.5m rule: Fair play to him. Not too many do it.

Driving and on your phone: Idiot

This will brighten up Jeremy Clarkson's day. Caravan gets destroyed.

The car driver tried the maneuver after getting stuck behind HGV driver Nick Townley for several milesThis dramatic dashcam footage shows the moment a caravan was smashed to pieces on a lamppost after a car driver tried to overtake a lorry.

The car driver tried the maneuver after getting stuck behind HGV driver Nick Townley for several miles.

He gambled on finally passing Mr Townley's truck at a set of lights but badly miscalculated as the road narrowed and lost control at 50mph.

He swerved in front of the truck and his caravan whiplashed into a lamppost, smashing it into smithereens and spilling the contents across the road.

The car crashed on the opposite side of the road - narrowly missing oncoming traffic in Somerset - with what remained of the £10,000 caravan still attached.

Driving through town down a one way street. BMW crosses street narrowly missing car in front who plonked on the brakes. They got a bit of a fright. Didnt even get a chance to beep. BMW went straight through a yield sign.

This idiot yesterday in the blue focus on the M1 southbound, coming up to the M50 interchange, he didn't know where he needed to be! Almost side swiped a Citroen C4.

Given he's come from the airport, maybe he's in unfamiliar territory, but it's no excuse for driving like a bell end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,725 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Another one from yesterday. M4 East, just before the Enfield services.

VW Golf tailgating me, followed closely be a BMW!

I know it's not the worst dash cam video you'll see today, but tailgating like this really gets on my nerve, I just pulled in to the overtaking lane went from 120km/h up a notch on cruise control to 123km/h (to try and get out of his way sooner) and he still decides to get right up my rear end.
(The video is also an excuse to do a first video while now having 2 cameras in the car :P)

Scobies like this really pi$$ me off.

This lad annoyed me last night . In Naas ..

He had a Learner plate on the window and the car was full of young people.

What you cant see on the vid is that he drove up the wrong side of the side street to get past the waiting traffic.

Then drove up the wrong side of the road breaking the red lights while the green man was lit. Notice a child appear soon after he broke the lights.

Young lad in the PEUGEOT 407 ST COMFORT 1.8 04 C 15253 If you see this.
I pondered deeply about reporting you to the Garda with this . I just have no time to spend half a day in court as a witness.

Second time this happened to me this week. I don't mind the first driver but the second guy came across the white line and would have hit me if I didn't react fast enough. You're supposed to wait behind the cyclist until it is safe to overtake.
