    Hi,

its been a few years since I built my last computer, and haven't kept up with some nuances of the latest motherboard and PSU connector compatibility.

    e.g.
If I look at the spec of the MSI X99S MPOWER, I see the following:

    Internal I/O Connectors
    - 1 x 24-pin ATX power connector
    - 1 x 8-pin ATX 12V power connector
    - 1 x 4-pin ATX 12V power connector

But if I look at the ASRock Extreme6, I see, as far as I can tell, only
    - 1 x 24 pin ATX Power Connector
    - 1 x 8 pin 12V Power Connector (Hi-Density Power Connector)

i.e. no mention of 1x 4-pin ATX power connector.

Although the latter does list other connectors, and maybe one those connectors corresponds to the same 1x4-pin on the above MSI motherboard.

But then if I look for a review of the MSI X99S MPOWER, and see what PSUs the testers used, I find the following:
    OCZ 1250W Gold ZX Series
    and
    Corsair AX1200i Platinum PSU

So if I look at each of of those two PSUs, I find they both have 1x 20+4pin ATX, and 2x 4+4pin EPS connectors.

So does one of the 4+4pin EPS connectors fit into the 1x8pin connector of the ASRock Extreme6?

And likewise, does one of the 4+4pin EPS connectors fit into the 1x 8-pin ATX of the MSI X99S MPOWER, and the other 4+4pin EPS fit into the 1x 4-pin ATX on that motherboard?

Am a bit confused by those 4pin, 4+4pin connectors...

So looking at the following PSU: PURE POWER L8 | 530W CM
    ( http://www.bequiet.com/en/powersupply/249 )

It lists the connectors at the following:
    1x ATX-Mainboard (20+4 pin)
    0x P8 (CPU)
    1x P4+4 (CPU)
    0x P4 (CPU)

So I'm thinking this is not compatible with both motherboards above?

    Anyone?

    Thanks.

    Thanks!

I'm looking at hardwareversand site, and it is proving more difficult than I expected to find a PSU with two EPS 4+4pin connectors in the 500-600W range, that it Gold rated, for under 100 yoyo...

Its not very common to have two of them.Normally you would them for high end multi gpu builds so thats why you may struggle to get a lower wattage psu with them.

I'm not 100% sure but i'd imagine the extra 4 pin is only required if running more than two gpu's.
Dont quote me on it though :P
You could mail MSI and ask ?
