Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I thought a lot of dell employees were on min wage. No? maybe Im wrong
    They could have been.
Not 100% sure myself to be honest in the case of Dell.

if we were all a little more honest with ourselves we'd probably be out chatting on the streets instead of internet forums until things really changed ;)

no,everything is based on exports, just like the housing market, things like that cannot last

This has to be the funniest post in a long time.

Its like stating that a supermarket is basing all its income on selling goods to its customers, this cannot last.
Or a hairdresser is basing all her income on doing hair, this cannot last.

What the hell else does Ireland have to bring in revenue from abroad if not exports?
Exports are the ONLY way a country generates wealth and they have to last or the economy collapses.

Do I believe the economy is improving? No.

The govt. is stripping the populace of as much cash as possible to feed the black hole that is the banking sector.

God help us if the multinationals decide that Poland et al are better countries to work in.

......what happens if the economies into which you are exporting collapse, or demand shifts away from what we are currently exporting?

A broadly based, diversified economy (with an emphasis on exports) would surely make more sense.

Richie Boucher gets to have his 860,000 salary,Noonan gives him the thumbs up for it too.

Yet they want every other normal bank worker and to take a big hit.

Yep the economy is getting better, but only for a very select few who have friends in high places.

They were responsible for the large majority of Ireland's exports pre-1950. De Velera's instigation of the economic war meant the ordinary person suffered greatly in the 30's and the economy was damaged irreparably.

I'm fully aware of that, but it has nothing to do with the post I quoted.

Surely his post was hyperbole and he it actually meant the large majority.
