Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Stage 3 Assessment Centre will comprise the following:
    (a) re-test of the Verbal Reasoning and Inductive/Logical Reasoning tests,
    (b) Job Simulation Exercise
    (c) Report Writing Exercise

Parts a and c seem fairly self explanatory, anyone know anything about part b?

Also, is all this done on pen and paper or with computers?

I think (b) could be something similar to the scenarios section of the questionnaire from stage one, but that's just my guess!

    What happens next? 🙈

Do we all get separate assessment times or are we all in on Tuesday the 18th?

Well if they are running the assessment centres for two weeks, they won't be taking all 600 on the 18th! It says we will be contacted with a date & time shortly.

That's paddy day f***ed for whoever is on 18th, although saying that I would take it in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

Delighted I made it this far.. Was really unsure. They seem to have 3 bands again.. I have some friends in bands 2-3 of this round waiting to be called.

Really, are there 3 bands again after Stage 2 tests. It's going to get confusing very quickly

2 bands as far as I can tell

    1.1-600
    2. 601-3,100

    Pretty sure that's right

Somebody was saying that there are 2 or 3 bands that separate out the 601-3100 group. I don't know myself, trying to find out if this is the case.

    I know, I'm saying I think that is incorrect. I think it's just 2 bands. 1-600 and 601-3,100

No because my email states stage 2 band 1 and I ranked in the 700's so that is wrong. Think it is just stating that it was test results of band 1 from stage 1 if you catch my drift ;)

I'll ask them to double check but when I text around to see how people done one said he got group 2 and the other 3.. That's what I'm basing my assumption on

    Placings following Stage 2

    Next Step

    1 to 600

Candidates in this group qualified at Stage 2 and were placed highest. They will be invited to Stage 3 (Assessment Centre) in March.

    601 to 3100

Candidates in this group reached the qualifying standard at Stage 2 but are not in the initial group to be invited to Stage 3. It is possible that more candidates may subsequently be called forward to the Assessment Centre Stage. Should it be necessary to call further candidates and their place is reached, they will be contacted and invited to Stage 3.

    Did not Qualify

Candidates in this category were not successful at Stage 2 and will not progress further in this campaign.

Taken from their scoring explanation. Don't think there is bands in this stage...

  • Registered Users Posts: 818 ✭✭✭Archer3083

Maybe the reason that they the subject of the email was Stage 2 Band 1 is because they have yet to release the results for Stage 2 Band 2. There were a number of Irish speakers from Band 2 that did the Stage 2 assessments. I don't think they got their results today. It's just a guess though

What's the story with time allocations for stage 3? I haven't a chance of getting time off in the next 2 weeks. Will there be the option of evening/weekend time allocations? Thanks

Your best bet is to ring PAS, they may give you more information

can anyone explain then stage 2 band 1 but not in the top 600?

everyone who did the test was in band 1 as in after stage 1,

Stage 2 was what we did

It was just the title of the email I think

No bands after that just 600 proceeding others in reserve

thanks. will the next 300 maybe get called then further down the line?

I would assume so not everyone will pass subsequent stages so is very likely some of the reserve people will be called up at some point, they wont be taking all 300 at once either I don't honestly think

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 Max_ Power

thanks. I got in the top 1000 so just want to know where we will stand.

you have a great chance to be getting a call for stage 3 at some point this year in my opinion

  • Registered Users Posts: 175 ✭✭Thecameraman

The will def have more than 600 in stage 3, if you just think about it for a min 600 for 300 jobs already it doesn't make sence anyone who passed stage 2will get called.

then you've got the 300 people that dont make it coming back into that again or will they be discarded?

    theres 100 places in summer

    100 in sept

so the 600 are going for the first 100 jobs

  • Registered Users Posts: 11 Max_ Power

I don't understand how they can only pick 600 making it a 1 in 2 chance of getting the job you would of thought they would of at least went to 1000. Its a joke the way they've handled this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 46 bort_license

I've been located just outside the 600 mark.

Its the most extreme cut yet, I feel. Anyone in the top 600 will more than likely be in Garda college this summer. Basically a 50/50 shot!

I seen something interesting someone posted a short while ago that not all 300 will enter the college at once? but over the space of a few months!

My thoughts are that they will want to get at least 150 from the 600 for the summer intake, put the remainder of the 600 (who pass) on a panel, and then break into group B to make up the rest of the autumn/winter class. Then they will continue to work through group B until it is exhausted over the following 2 years.

I find it very hard to accept that if you fail stage 3 even by one point your out altogether and may aswell be in band 2 or 3 of stage 1

I doubt the 600 will JUST be going for the first 100 jobs. Alan Shatter said himself that there would be a panel formed in order of merit. In my opinion, a good amount of the 600 could be placed on that panel (200-300). However, I do think that Stage 2 band 2 WILL be called to stage 3 sometime in the near future.
