Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Howdy Ho Neighbourinos!!

Ive been trawling through lots of old posts here on boards checking out studios but still cant find the perfect fit?? Just looking to see if anyone can point me in the right direction. To cut a long story short, Im moving to London end of August and looking to record an EP to take over with me, Ive had the very fortunate pleasure of having 2 UK indi labels very interested in putting out and promoting an EP for me when I arrive and put a band together.

I have a batch of 12 really strong punchy catchy punk/alt/pop tunes written, just looking for an affordable studio to record them in. Im playing everything and singing myself so Ive a pretty strict budget in place, but Im not looking for anything high end. Ive recorded some stuff already with Neal in Manorpark who is incredible, but way out of my budget.

Im looking for a studio and producer/engineer who knows how to record punchy punky music. Ive recorded some tunes in the reh room on an old tape machine and it sounds amazing, Im looking for an 80's/90's lo-fi sound kinda like Husker Du, Dino Jr, Jawbox, early Foo,s sound. A recording where the songs really burst with energy and don't have a over produced clean sound quality.
Anyway if anyone can help feel free to get in touch, really appreciate any help

Thanks so much in advance, links to my music below

    Hi Conor,

George Forsyth here from Big Lemon Productions. We're a startup company just recently registered. I spent the last year working in Windmill Lane under some of the top engineers in Ireland including Ger McDonnell (Manic Street Preachers, U2, Kasabian) Tim Martin (The Frames, Thin Lizzy) . Artists I've personally worked with include The Walls, Donal Lunny and Andrew Boland (Celtic Women). Although I wasn't the main engineer on these sessions, I did a lot of technical work and enhanced my ability tenfold.
Just from reading your ad I can get an Idea of how you would like your recordings to sound. I have Ideas for studios and would love to chat. Pre Production is all free and any costs will have been laid out before the project begins.
As engineer in my own right I am credited on The Cold 100's (Dublin Band) debut E.P. Into The Parlour, The Urges (also from Dublin) forthcoming E.P. and started work on the Hot Sprockets 2nd album earlier this year. I love to work with bands live all PERFORMING together. If you would like examples of my work and rates feel free to call me or email and I can forward you on some tracks.
Our company will be launching a website in the coming months and also offer live sound, mastering. Myself and my business partner did sound at Electric Picnic 2011 and have plenty of experience with all genres of music.

    Regards

I'm going out to Kilcoole to record at The Hive* this weekend. Some pretty great bands have recorded there in the last couple of years and at €120 per 8 hour day, I doubt you'll find anywhere better. Here's some bands that have recorded there:

    RAN: http://ranmusic.bandcamp.com/
    Owensie: http://owensie.bandcamp.com/
    Enemies: http://enemiesmusic.bandcamp.com/
    Adebisi Shank: http://adebisishank.bandcamp.com/

*Full disclosure: I know the lads who run the studio but I ain't shilling on their behalf; I just happen to genuinely be heading out there this weekend.

I know a guy who's started up a recording business recently. Tuff Lip Productions is the name of it. You can search for them on facebook.

This summer he's recording a lot of artists free of charge after graduating with a music degree.

He's very busy this summer and doing a lot of work recording.

He's actually a fan of that type of alt/punk music you mentioned so would be ideal.

I've heard a few of the recordings and they sound very good indeed, from bands to singer songwriters with piano.

Send me a PM if you need more info and I can send you his contact details.
