Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey everyone, 22 female here born and bred in Wex. So was just wondering whats the best way of meeting new people in Wexford male and female. Most of my close friends are after leaving and I am looking to get to know new people. Not really good at sports so joining sports clubs probably wouldn't be the best thing. Thanks :)

Aside from the obvious one, go pubbing, maybe try a non-sport voluntary organisation like the Order of Malta (disclaimer; I'm involved with them so can help you out there) or Civil Defence maybe, or similar. Is there a hobby club that interests you about? If you think you might be into drama, the Oyster Lane Theatre Company, Wexford Light Opera, Wexford Drama Group and Wexford Pantomime Society (I can help with contacts for all of these) encourage new members. You don't have to go on stage they have backstage roles as well. As do the Wexford Festival Opera who are always looking for volunteers (I can guide you in the right direction there, too). Just a few suggestions.

Any more for any more lads and lassies? There's loads of stuff I haven't included.

    Or are you a musician?

Wexford can be a tough place to get to know people, I'd second the voluntary group, or maybe one of the walking groups.

+1 I moved back a while ago and it is hard to meet people. I still don't know that many!!

it's hard to make friends from stranger type of relationship..

I'm a believer or making friends of friend where the opportunity exist..

Can your existing friends introduce another friend from their circle that you haven't met or known prior?

    just a suggestion.. good luck

Some of us have been away for a while, I found that when i returned to wexford last year all of my friends had moved away.

Also I don't particularly enjoy the pub scene as its expensive and you are usually dependant on others for transportation

There's some great restaurants in town, if we got a group of maybe six or more we could book a big table. If would be like come dine with me, except in somebody else house!

What sort of foods do you guys like?
Would you guys be open to a weekend lunch/ early evening?

Sure keep an eye on this thread :), and let me know what dates/times suit, and I'll cobble something together. (we have one vote for evenings so far)

So I'm going to suggest the Potato market some reviews here on trip adviser.

So dod many people turn up? I would also recommend joining a vol organisation. Order of Malta is gr8 1 in wex (member also) but others like SVP etc are good to get involved with. If your livin a bit outside town Macra na feirme is a good 1. Theres plenty of farmers & non farmers in it & generally organise good social events. Very suited towards young people. Some areas are more organised than others so I suggest looking at different 1s before committing...

Welcome to Boards.ie. An online discussion forum. I see your struggling a bit to get the hang of things there, so just a tip - you need to post something constructive to engage with the Boards Community. ;)

I thought Chevron's post was a valid contribution he was pointing out where a poster was enquiring how an event went, when it had yet to take place. The poster wished he had seen it in time to attend. No further comment was needed

well raising awareness is equally as important as raising funds, as you have clearly demonstrated, You may be aware that the first round of threatening letters finaly arrived last week.

The unfair and unjust tax hasnt disappeared into oblivion, so neither shal we.

anyway twas a great craic, only marred by Irelands thumping by the Germans earlier in the evening.

back on topic, anyone got any Ideas about interesting stuff coming up inthenear future?

I am single and in my late 40s and all my friends have partners. I feel it very hard to make new friends. I would be interested in hearing of any suggestions on groups, meet ups etc in Wexford area with people in a similiar situation. Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 131 ✭✭Sapphire3

    Hi,

I am originally from North Wicklow but have been living down in Wexford now about 6 years. I am married and in my early 30s.
Like some of you, I find it hard to make new friends as most of my friends have either emigrated or are in Dublin!. I am also the shy type which doesn't help either! lol Would like to make some new local friends, might be interested in a local get-together if any of you have any ideas?
