Hedge Cutting out of time

"....the time frame during which it is prohibited to cut Hedgerows. The period now runs from the 1st March to the 31st August each year."

Despite this the developer who owns fields opposite me has grubbed up trees and cut hedges - and the work is still going on. I rang the county council's Area Office and was told that someone would be sent out to inspect the land but I have not seen anyone doing so.

I have no faith in enforcement by any local authority - it seems to go against their whole mindset. Would it be worth contacting the National Parks and Wildlife Service?

This comes under the Environment Office of the local council. My experience is that they act promptly on this any time I contact them.

Srameen, have you any idea whether a developer is bound by any wildlife legislation in this regard?

They certainly are but there are often term specified in the planning permission as well. Best check with the local council Environment Office as they will know.

The destruction of vegetation is allowed under the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2000 Section 46(c) for "the development or preparation of sites on which any building or other structure is intended to be provided".
