Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Best Roll in Galway?

    I'm usually hungover and craving a roll on a saturday lunch time to chill and watch the football. My go to place Wards is closed at the weekend until april apparently so i'm looking for recommendations on places to get good rolls! sick of subway tbh as its a poor substitute for bbq ribs, cajun sauce, jalepenos, melted cheese, red onion. Looking for some alternative ideas to breakfast rolls....

    Any Ideas?

    Well if you do want a breakfast roll, the best one in the city is O'Hehirs bakery Westside.

    Wards is closed at weekends? That is a recession indicator.
    As for rolls, make your own.

    Wards opposite the students gate for the university?

    They only opened at weekends in and around exam times.

    I think they are only opened Sat, unless they are doing "winter hours".

    yeah they were open sats but owner said he wasnt opening sats anymore until exam time

    Apache by far. €3 and the bread and chicken are both lovely, you can also get as much fillings as you want without them charging you more. Downfall is it's an entire gamble whether you get a member of staff who can understand English, so the contents of your roll can vary wildly regardless of what you asked for.

    Yes they do the best rolls (...and wraps) in town but stupidly, they only sell them Mon to Fri.
    The only sambos they sell at the weekends are the pre-made ones.

    That supervalu at the bottom of Eyre Square, chicken tikka, mash potato, and cheese, heated up. I've taken parking tickets for that. And the sausages. Damn. Are they still open?

    Centra maybe? Or maybe the Spar that closed in January.

    Theres a centra on foster street that does decent rolls. I think that spar which was good I agree is gonzo

    Tried the sausage in a roll today from the South African guy in the market and it was really good.. The roll could have been a bit fresher but the sausages and sauces were yum! He's a nice lad too.. Will defo be back :)

    Epic thread with some great suggestions...

    If you are in Newcastle and Ward's is closed, G&L are nearby too and are good.

    Also the Big Breakfast crepe in Mr Waffle is savage. Kills your hangover stone dead.

    Le petit pan on Mainguard st and Gourmet tart are the best by far.All them galas and londis stores are the same processed crap.

    Hummus.
    Ciabatta.

    Need to say i got food poisoning from centra on Forster St yesterday. Got a hot chicken roll. Seen the girl using the same knife for raw food and cooked food. My own fault really I shouldnt have eaten it! Really regretting it now!! Be warned!!

    Dont understand your gripe. Theres no issue with using a knife to cut hot and cold food, if they used it on cooked and uncooked food then yes thats an issue but not what you've described.

    And getting sick is a fair gripe. But in fairness, read your first quote. That makes me picture cutting uncooked chicken and then buttering your roll with the same knife. Thought you were pretty crazy alright to have eaten anything from there having seen that. Hope you're feeling better.
