Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    On tonight 11/4/14.

Heavyweight Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Roy Nelson
Featherweight Clay Guida vs Tatsuya Kawajiri
Welterweight John Howard vs. Ryan LaFlare
Lightweight Ramsey Nijem vs. Beneil Dariush

    Preliminary card (UFC Fight Pass)
Heavyweight Jared Rosholt vs. Daniel Omielańczuk
Middleweight Thales Leites vs. Trevor Smith
Featherweight Alan Omer vs. Jim Alers
Bantamweight Rani Yahya vs. Johnny Bedford

Read earlier that Big Nog has never lost 2 in a row. With such a long time in the MMA game that is an astonishing record.

What's the craic with this? It's on at a weird time right?

Serious amount of underwhelming cards with "UFC" branding on them lately!

Whatever happens I sincerely hope Guida loses and gets cut. He's such a nothing nowadays. Prances around and with Greg Jackson giving him a "gameplan" he's going nowhere.

Would much prefer one or two cards a month with great fights throughout, way too many average cards now.

I've just had a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UFC_events and there's so many fights that are headlining which are completely irrelevant. How the fúck does Matt Brown and Erick Silva headline??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

So many mediocre cards lately that there's been a good few events I've missed altogether and haven't even been bothered watching them back. And I used to watch every single fight all year round.

Back on topic: I still really can't warm to Nelson and I hope he loses. Other than that, there's not a lot to get excited about with this card. Hopefully some of the fights exceed expectations.

    This.

I used to watch every fight from every promotion, now there are so many sub par events that I just cant be bothered with some of them!

I think mma has just been a fad thats running its course for you two buckos:pac:

I hope Nog know's he won't be KO'ing Country and goes for a nice sub instead. Nothing against Roy but Big Nog was always one of my favourite fighters.

Anyone know what time it's on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Most cards these days are prelim quality of years gone by. Very few are stacked anymore, and when they are a bloody injury ruins the thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,452 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

I rarely miss a card, and I don't expect that to change. Of course with a stacked event and lots of fights with title implications the anticipation will be higher, but many of these dull (on paper) cards end up having great fights.

looks like the card is starting 5.15pm GMT on fight pass.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭Devastator

Main card starts at 7 on espn, not sure why its not on btsport.

I can't see anything other than a big nog win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

It's a fight pass card. Bedford - yahya was a no contest due to accidental clash of heads. Shame I had a bed on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

Thank god that was deemed a no contest i had backed against bedford!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

Also Dan Hardy is a class commentator!

You are blessed there was no way Bedford wasn't going to TKO him, the size difference was unreal!

Yeah i didnt really look into that bout to much, have Omer in this. Decent fight so far!

Great first round. I don't have a bet on this fight but very exciting first round. Omer with a broken thumb maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Serious fight right there, great performance from 2 UFC debutant's.

Leites should have this in the bag.

    Yep 30 second in haha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Leites really needs a proper test! I can't see anything other than a rosholt win in this.

Yeah i have Rosholt in a seperate bet with Leites, Guida & a Big Nog submission! Very entertaining card so far!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

I have Rosholt, Darisuh, Kawajiri, La Flare on points and Roy Nelson, all in a few bets. May the best man win!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

I love roy so much but for some reason i just see him being beaten! Rosholts wrestling is amazing.

    And now there both gassed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

Terrible fight though, Rosholt should finish this. I am not that confident of a Roy win though but one pnuch on Nog and it is good night.

Yeah the boos are raining down, technical styles like this just arent entertaining ala why shields was cut.

Exactly roy just has that massive power that im afraid of!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,541 ✭✭✭Davei141

I don't mind good technical fights but Rosholt could have finished that at any point really. He needs to be a bit more adventurous against inferior opponents. Next fight should be good! If Nog avoids Roy's bombs in round 1 & 2 he takes it IMO.

Starts at 7 on Espn & 1:30 am on Bt Sports , didnt know Espn had the rights to show any events these days . Have backed Roy Nelson to win by TKO & a treble with Nelson , Guida & Dariush

ESPN UK is owned by BT Sport. Only a matter of time till they call it BT Sport 3 in my opinion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,739 ✭✭✭ASOT

Surprised that wasnt stopped earlier!! Laflare should have enough to beat howard here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,923 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

backed howard pts as i thought it was too big at 13/2

If it weren't for Volkov knocking out Mighty Mo in Bellator, Nelson would have gotten KO of the week.

Would like to see Leites get a much better opponent next time out.

Oh wow. Just watching this now. Incredible KO. Something we've not seen in a while from Nelson. Brilliant.
